  1. U of A Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/698274813713274/
  2. Hey treaclemineroad, is it common for students to drop out of the program? Did they realize the program wasn't for them, or was it more due to extenuating circumstances?
  3. Thanks treaclemineroad, klfstudent, and lindzzz! They must be emailing in alphabetical order, since I still haven't received anything. Hopefully I'll hear from them sometime next week!
  4. Hey everyone, I know that Dalhousie is really slow at updating the application summary progress, and mine only has the application fee listed (everything else is empty). I'm wondering if anyone else is in the same boat? Or, if your summary is complete, when did you submit the application/how long did it take to update? Thanks!
  5. Hi! Does anyone have any info on the Speech and Language Sciences Certificate at Brock University? For example, is it a distance learning or on-campus program? What are the course sequences for each semester? Etc.? I couldn't find anything about it on their website. Thanks in advance!
  6. Hi nins, I am waiting for Dalhousie and U of A, both of which will likely be rejections at this point.
  7. Same here! A huge huuuuge congratulations to all those who were accepted/waitlisted! For those of you still waiting (myself included), don't lose hope - your perseverance will pay off, and I believe that's what will make you an excellent clinician one day.
  8. U of A has always had 56-58 spots! Congratulations, shleew & Archie15! Would you be willing to send me your stats in a PM as well?
  9. Congrats on the waitlist spot, sab236! I'm starting to lose a lot of hope for U of A - I thought I had the greatest chance of getting accepted there out of all the schools I applied to, especially since I made my sGPA quite competitive since the last round, and got a lot more experiences. At this point, I'm bracing for my 3rd rejection from them, and wonder if this is the universe's way of telling me that SLP just isn't meant for me.
  10. Thanks for this information, sab236! I was also wondering about this.
  11. Me and you both, sab236! So guilty of constantly stalking this forum, they should give out an award for that haha Has anyone heard anything back from Alberta since last Tuesday? I really wish all the schools had a set date for acceptances like ORPAS!
  12. Congratulations, guys!! I can't believe U of A is sending out acceptances so early this year Would it be possible for you to share your stats, if you don't mind?
  13. Ah, thanks for the reassurance! It made me feel a lot better. I was just worried that it would make me look like a "tardy" applicant. @penelope46, I hope you hear back soon/within the next week!
  14. My Dalhousie application finally updated! However, it states that they received my GRE scores after the deadline, at the end of January (which is weird since I sent them in December). Now I'm worried that will ruin any chances that I had... Anyone have any advice or insights?
  15. My application status for the University of Alberta changed to "Pending Review" on Bear Tracks!
  16. Thank you for letting me know!! Fingers crossed that I hear back from Dalhousie soon!
  17. May I ask when you sent your documents in? I sent mine in well before the 15th, and I haven't heard anything from them. It's making me quite stressed!
  18. Hi! Is anyone else still waiting for their Dalhousie application checklist to be updated online?
  19. Hi jillybean, I am in a similar situation as you: my GPA from my first bachelor's degree was not very competitive, but my 2nd bachelor's degree is. U of A only looks at your last 60 credits + prereq courses, and NOT the cumulative GPA, so I'd say don't stress out too much about it a 4.0 is MORE than competitive!
  20. This is what it says on their pre-req page: "Athabasca University offers all of our required pre-requisites via distance education, with the exception of phonetics. The link can be found on our website at http://www.slp.utoronto.ca/admissions/prerequisites/athabasca/ The University of Alberta offers an online phonetics course (LING 205: PHONETICS). To find out more information http://www.registrarsoffice.ualberta.ca/en/SpecialRegistrations/OpenStudies.aspx" Hope this helps.
  21. The online application page now says to check back on Friday the 5th. So frustrating!
  22. I am still on the fence about applying to a few schools. I know that McGill is very research-based & Alberta is quite clinical-focused. Does anyone have some insights into what the programs at Toronto, Western Ontario, or Dalhousie are like? Thanks in advance! Oh, and just thought I'd update anyone that's interested in applying to U of A - just checked their website, and the applications have been pushed back AGAIN. Looks like we can't start the online application until December now. I wonder how this might affect their Jan. 15th deadline...
