  1. So I've decided to attend Tufts University Sackler School of Biomedical Sciences in their Pharmacology and Drug Development program. I will be a Masters student and I will have to fund my tuition and all. I've filled out my FAFSA and turned it into the fiancial aid department recently so I do not know what kind of loans I will get. I'm fairly new to this so if anyone could help me out. First I understand that with a masters degree, usually you are funding your own tuition. However I see on the Results Search tab that some students are getting tuition waiver in their program as a MASTERS student (these are in different programs at different schools ex. History). Also since I am starting in the Fall (2014), is it too late to apply to scholorships? I see that a few of them were closed already. I don't think i'm searching the correct way to find scholorships. If anyone could show me how to search for these it would be a great help!. Thanks, T
  2. Got noticed of acceptance last month. Will be a MA student in Pharmacology and Drug Development at Sackler School of Biomedical Sciences. Was wondering if anyone else out there is going to be there this fall (2014). Or at the school this fall in general
  3. I asked myself today when writing my SOP, "why do I want a Phd?"...and sadly I could not give myself a genuine answer. I want to pursue a PhD in Biochemistry or Biomedical Sciences but I cannot even differentiate the two. I do not want to become a P.I or a professor in any means...but I do have a passion to continue my education. But I don't feel that having a passion to continue my education should lead me to pursing a PhD. Ultimately I just want to find a well paying job with a PhD, possibly in the Pharma/Biotech field, drug designing. Could a PhD in the Biomedical Sciences or Biochemistry work in this related field? But a MA degree can also get a job in this field. But do most schools fund a MA degree? the schools I am applying to all fund only PhD candidates and most MA would require you to take more loans out, which I do not want. If someone asked me why I want a PhD, my answer would be so I can continue my education and hopefully, eventually find a job in a Pharma company that pays well. ^ what are your guys thoughts on this statement
  4. Hello all, I heard that a lot of times, graduate programs want to see if you are a "fit" for their program. During my undergraduate, I did 2 years of laboratory research focusing on plant cell wall, ultimately creating biomass into efficient bio-fuel. My undergraduate degree is Biochemistry. I enjoyed what I did, but in reality it wasn't my top choice of research, I rather took it on because it was an opportunity I did not want to pass up. However, when I apply to graduate schools, I really want to focus on pharmacology, immunology. I know that my previous research experience and what I actually want to pursue do not really relate. Would this be a bad thing?
  5. I'll be taking the GRE in 4 days. I've taken around 5-6 practice GRE tests timed/untimed. my scores have averaged 150/150 what are the chances I can get into Tuffs University pharmacology program? or Boston university? also around 1.2 years of lab experience 3.13/4.0 GPA letters of rec are from professors that are very close to me that i've worked with for over a year..so they know me best.
