So I'm looking to apply to several PhD programs (cell, genetic, molecular bio) at several state schools in Michigan, as well as one private institution. Here's the run-down: Education: Mid-sized state university, 64 credits at 3.71 GPA before I transferred. Community college (some summer classes between the transfer): 4 credits at 4.0 average Larger research university (current, with one year left): 44 credits at 4.0 average. major: biomedical science, minor: chemistry So, overall GPA at the moment is at 3.83. Science GPA is higher, most of my B's came from liberal studies classes. GRE: 156V 157Q, (so 313 overall) 5 AW (should I retake this??) I have not taken the subject GRE yet. Research experience: 1. 6 months, evolutionary genetics lab. 2. 1 month developmental biology lab, left because of (3) 3. 4 months and current employee of contract genomics research company. I plan on keeping this job throughout the duration of this next summer and then through the next year, ending up in over a year of industry research experience before I leave for grad school. I have presented one project at NCHC (national collegiate honors council) nationally, as well as presented at my undergrad university's celebration of student works. I also concurrently work a second job along with being a full time student and part time laboratory assistant at the genomics company. I am not considering any top-tier schools for a PhD at this point. At the moment, I am currently considering (PhD unless otherwise specified): Michigan Technological University Wayne State University Michigan State University University of Michigan (masters only) Central Michigan University (masters only) Western Michigan University (masters only) Mayo Graduate School University of Vermont University of Maine Are there any suggestions to add or subtract from this list with my credentials? What are your thoughts?
