  1. Oh, man, it seems we are all on the same boat. I wonder if this means we are wait listed or they really did not make/release most of their decisions. As for the schools you mentioned, I did not apply to them, so I do not know.
  2. Hey guys, I have not heard from 7 schools, and I do not know if this is the case with most of you, but there has been some skrmishes of rejections/acceptances from some schools that I applied to(Texa, Austin - UIUC - Purdue - Nevada, Reno). I am not sure if this year people are not submotting their reaults or not many people have received replies yet. As one of you said, waiting is killing me. As for UW, Seattle, I have some news. My professor contacted one of the faculty there and he was told that they are deciding on funding awards this week. I think that this week's rejections mean that decisions have been made. Lets keep fingers crossed to hear from them soon. As for UC, Irvine, they contacted the ones who are to be accepted without fund to ask for financial documents. However, they did not say it was an admission offer without funding until I asked.
  3. Hi all, I have read the thread, and I have a lot to say in mind, so I am summing everything in one reply. I think the different universities are waiting to the last minute, and that decisions this year are coming out later than last year, which is something I just cannot think of a reason to it. I noticed that most replies last year were in late February, early March, and late March early April. Here we are, almost mid March and very few schools replied. I also think they are finishing decisions for masters before they decided on PhD's. Strangely enough, a friend of mine got an acceptance with a blunt "No Funding" into PhD at SUNY Buffalo. I find it strange that they did not reply to many people, but still told her "no funding". Finally, I would like to share my stats as you all did. They are not really super, they are just average. I applied for Ms/PhD programs if the institution allows. Undergrad GPA: 3.64/4.0 (American University in Cairo) GRE: V:151, Q:160, AW:3.5 Experience: 1 year Teaching and Research Assistant. Research: One Paper submitted, got initial acceptance asking for final manuscript. Applied: UC Berkeley, UMich, Purdue, UIUC, UTexas Austin, SUNY Buffalo, UNevada Reno, UWashington Seattle, UC Irvine, IowaState. Rejected:UMich Accepted: -- I wish us all good luck.

  5. GeoDUDE!....I agree that Structural Engineering is the least quantitative branch of engineering, and I am planning to increase my score in that area even though I do really good in practices, and I usually finish before time. I guess all I have to do is to practice more. I am actually concerned about my Verbal and Analytical writing scores are they considered Okay?! I know I am an international student, but I spent a semester at Iowa State University, and I graduated from the American University in Cairo, and the program is ABET accredited. My GPA is 3.64/4.0 I currently work as a TA, and RA, I will be submitting a paper next month to the annual US Earthquake Engineering. Conference Do these things make any difference?
  6. Hi, I am Shady, from Egypt. I have taken the GRE a week ago, and I got 148/159/3.5 in Q/V/A. I want to apply for masters in top 10 schools in civil engineering (UIUC, Stanford, Berkeley, U of Texas..etc.) . In particular, I am interested in Structural Engineering. Do you think I should retake the test or not. I just want to know which part of my score is most detrimental is it the AW? or anything else?! If I should retake it, what target score should I aim for?! Thanks
