Hello vickolors, You could email (or call) Hunter or Columbia and explain your situation? They may be able to help or direct you to another source to help you find money. If loans are not available to you and if this year doesn't work out, then maybe you should look into MFA programs that are fully funded and gives you a stipend or apply for a Fulbright as someone else mentioned. I hope this year works out for you though.

Hello lolapola, I also received the offer into VCU MFA Sculpture + Extended Media program and a similar funding from them. Even though there is no guarantee for funding for the second year, the interim director told me that it was more than likely we will receive a similar funding package. They are legally protecting themselves since the funding for their program may not be consistent as programs like UTK's MFA . There are a some competitive MFA fellowships/awards that you can be nominated for or apply to. I have a running list of fellowships and awards for graduates and post-graduates/emerging artist who work in Sculptures/Installation/New Media. I am visiting VCU this week or next and I don't mind taking pictures of the facilities and sending them to you. Even though it won't be the same as visiting yourself, at least you have some ideas of the equipments and facilities at VCU. I assume you will want to see the printmaking studios, fiber studio, and sculpture equipment. Just inbox me if you would want like to have photos of such. Also, VCU is located in Richmond. Even though Richmond doesn't have a big art scene,VCU connects the students to NY via visiting artists/critics. Also, Richmond is an hour and half via car from Washington DC. I think they have something NY but I am not sure of the details yet. Making connection is crucial in any career. VCU offers more of a chance to connect to well-established individuals than Tennessee. (I lived in TN most of my life and I can assure you there is not much there in regards to the art world) . UTK has a beautiful campus though. I also received a full tuition waiver from another school with a huge stipend. However, I will not pass up VCU offer. They are the best in our area and our body of work will develop much more quickly. As you say, VCU will allow your work to develop in ways you may not imagine. They have a great fiber Department. But yeah...VCU is where it is at. Haha.

Yeah! I know that feeling of rejection! Well I always consider rejection as a redirection. I will let you know how the visit go. I am trying to go next week if my schedule allows.

Thanks! Congrats to you too ismewilde on your acceptance to CM!

Congrats! I sent an pm to you about the funding situation for me. My tuition is covered and will receive somewhere between $5,000 and $10,000 for my first year (I was too excited to get all the details when I got the phone call about the funding). Second year funding is not guarantee but likely probable.

femnotfem, you probably have not set-up the tabs and category for gmail: https://support.google.com/mail/answer/3055016?hl=en I will just call Cornell. Here is the link to the Department of Art's contact info: http://aap.cornell.edu/admissions/graduate/art . I hope you receive good news. Thanks Yellow Magnet! I may pm if any questions come up. If I get accepted, then I am definitely visiting before I make the decision to attend or not.

I received a generic email from Cornell U. Maybe they may contact you soon, femnotfem? If not, then it might not hurt to give them a call. Also, I did not find the email in the main inbox tab section for my gmail account. I found it under my "Update" tab.

Hello fellow MFA Sculpture applicants, I just wanted to let you know I just litterally heard from VCU's Sculpture + Extended Media program this morning via email. They sent a interview request for tomorrow (March 9) or Monday (March 10). This is a surprise to me since I was rejected by Yale U (2/1) and Cornell U (3/7) and I assume rejections from UCLA and USC. Anyways, good luck to you all.
