  1. I just wanted to ask anyone here if they know of what CSUSB's repuation as an MSW program? First, I want to know if the city's bankruptcy has affected any possible fieldwork opportunities, or is that something to not worry about? I also am asking because I am trying to see if I meet the school's requirements for the MSW program. I already plan on applying to CSULB, CSUC, CSUS, CSULA, UCLA, CSUF, and probably SDSU. Furthermore, I plan on getting my concentration in Aging or Healthcare where these programs apply to which college I apply to. Does anyone have any fresh perspective they can offer?
  2. Right now at least, I think the only program in California that absolutely requires the GRE, despite GPA, is SDSU. And even there from what I've heard, that university really just cares if you get 4 or higher on Analytical Writing. Many other California schools, including Chico State and UCLA both require the GRE if your GPA is below a 3.0
  3. From my perspective, as someone who will be applying next year, it is good to have some relevant social services experience which you can draw upon. There are many social service companies who are looking for someone who can work part-time or full-time in uban, and especially rural areas. And the service you provide can go to the young, the old, and the disabled for these companies. There are no one thing to look out for unless you specialize in some skill. (nursing, etc.) As for you Decaf, I would say that you can parlay your experience as a valuable experience that is relevant to what social work can entail. Talk about the skills you learned and regularly used ( staying detail-oriented and organized for students from a lower socio-economic background) I only say this because I too worked part-time at an urban charter school for a year and I believe it is important to stress the cultural diversity and experience you now have.
