  1. Hello everyone, I'll be moving to New York this fall to start my study at TC, which I'm very excited about but at the same time it means that I got to start looking for a suitable place to live. As an international student, this whole process is a little daunting. And I've been beginning to lean to the idea of living at a housing offered by TC rather than go on a apartment hunt. Anyone who has an experience with TC have any recommendation in which housings I should apply? Is this a good idea?
  2. Hi all. I'm still on the process of sorting out schools and I'm beginning to feel like I have a low chance for an admission to a phd program. And I feel like my undergrad research experiences are disconnected from what I want to pursue in grad school. While initially I was shooting for a phd program, I'm opening my options for few masters program. But is this advisable? My ultimate goal is getting a phd and I learned that many schools don't offer masters program. People do say that the fit is the most important but I can't help thinking that I may be weeded out from the start because of my low stats... My stats: GRE: V163 Q162 W4 GPA 3.3 (last 2 years 3.8-3.9; undergrad at well ranked private school) Research: 1 year at a clinical lab with focus on maternal depression, summer research assistant at a developmental psychology lab with heavy concentration in spatial cognition. Volunteer: Local autism center for a year. My research interest is influence of parenting and peer relation on children's emotional development. But I think my idea on the topic is pretty vague and it's totally unrelated to my undergrad research experience. On top of that I feel like my undergrad research is weak since I don't have any publications. This is one of my many concerns. Ugghh... I'm so stressed out Do you think I should apply to a masters program first? Or would I still have a shot at a phd program?
  3. Hello, I'm thinking of applying to developmental psychology phd programs this fall but I'm really worried about my current qualifications and finding matching schools. I've been on the web for past few days trying to search for a "matching/suitable school" before getting my hands on the SOP. My plan is to find few schools that would match my current gpa/gre score and then narrow them down by looking up to see if the professor's interest match mine. Do I even stand a chance at applying to a phd program? I feel very lost. Any input would be extremely helpful. Here's my qualifications GPA: 3.3/4.0 at a well ranked liberal arts school GRE: 162V, 159Q, 4/6 (I might take it again this October) Worked in two University Lab for a little over a year but no publications. Volunteered at a local autism center for a little less than a year. Various teaching experience with children
