Hi, I am accepted by them and is seriously considering it, but I have not gotten any information about the Prospective Student Days. Where did you get that information?
-
It is nice that you both got into UCLA. Congratulations! I will probably go to the PhD program at UW Seattle, but I am still waiting for another result. If you or your girl friend have msn, qq, or facebook, maybe we can chat online in Chinese B)

Hi, I am a native Chinese too, although my concentration is on Japanese literature. If you already have an idea of what you want to research in a PhD, then choose an advisor whose research interests best match yours. If not,I would personally recommend UCLA, since they have a good PhD program and you want to do a PhD in the future. But is funding an important issue for you? Did any of them provide financial support?

Congratulations! I may be able to see you there. I am considering accepting the offer from them. I am in the Japanese PhD program, but I am Chinese

Anyone else has heard from Columbia?
-
Thank you!

Congratulations! You are accepted by so many schools! Have you received formal admission from Columbia? I have not heard anything from them. Did they have interview or something like that? I am trying to figure out whether I still have a chance to get in. Thank you!

wow, you are accepted by Columbia and Yale! Congratulations! I also applied these two but have not heard anything. I guess this means I have no chance. break my heart. Would you mind sharing your background? I am wondering what I am lack of. Thank you!

Thank you for your useful information. About Ohio state, I heard that they are good at finding jobs for their students

Thank you for the information. I received an email from the counsellor. He said the official letter will be sent this week.
-
Thank you. But I still don't know the funding information and am not sure whether I will go. Do you know how their programs are?
-
I am still waiting for other results (Columbia, Yale, Stanford), but I don't think they will work out If we will not know the funding information until May, that would be too bad. But since you already have two fellowship offers, you don't need to worry. Congratulations! I think fellowship is far more better than TAship. Are you sure they only took one person for each field? It seems that they have a lot of graduate students in Chinese program, but much fewer in Japanese program. Do you know how their department is? Frankly, I know little about it.

I got admission from UW too. One of professors told me that there is only one fellowship each year for new coming students, so I applied the TA position. There would be an interview for TA next week. Anyone ease has funding information? By the way, my field is Japanese literature.

I can open it, but there is nothing new in it. I don't think it means they are updating, as I encountered the similar problem to you several times before. According to the "results search", the guy who got offer knew the result via personal email from faculty. I think it will take a while before we can see the result on the website.

The results of Columbia and Yale also seem to have come out. I am so nervous.

As far as I know, there is no interview, not even for most of PhD programs (I could be wrong). But it seems that a lot of people got call from Yale. Anyone knows more?
-
Me, too. I am becoming impatient and can hardly concentrate on thesis writing. I am applying to the Japanese programs though.

Hearing from schools is really a good sign. Sadly, I have not heard from any school. May I ask which two school?
-
Applied for Columbia, Yale, Stanford and UW. All very competitive. Bless~

I received an email from the DGS as follows: The Japan faculty met this morning for our first discussion of graduate applications for next year. We like your application very much. We'd like to ask you, however, what kind of financial aid you'll be needing for next year. Chinese students from the mainland often need a certain amount of assistance to receive visas from the government. But since you're in the U.S. at present, we'd like to know if this is still the case. We look forward to hearing from you. Does this mean I am accepted?
