  1. any guesses as to when first round notifications come out?
  2. yes they are two separate programs. different processes and timelines
  3. Honestly, if you haven't heard by now... It's very likely a no. I am in the same boat. It sucks. Email Mantz. He should be able to tell you unofficially at this point
  4. Yea I mean they cut programs from time to time. They'd make some sort of announcement or email all the applicants. They cancelled Egypt last year right before the fulbrighters were supposed to start... Can be funding, security, relationship with committee in-country...
  5. Really depends on the school and even the specific department. I think generally when you have guaranteed teaching as part of your acceptance they'll tell you in your letter... But you should just email the admissions coordinator and ask for clarification
  6. That email was so obnoxious!
  7. Yea sociology has different deadlines/schedules. It's a totally different dept and has nada to do with Anthro. The issue for everyone in Anthro is that until we get our results our grant app is active in the system and you can't have 2 active apps for the same grant.
  8. this is so frustraaaaaating
  9. any other anthros going crazy about the wait / as frustrated as i am about missing the 1/15 deadline? (from the august round)
  10. people on this thread have applied for different types of fulbrights with different deadlines and decision dates
  11. FLAS (foreign language and area studies) and NSF GRFP (the graduate research fellowship program) are both open to grad school applicants (and obviously you have to get accepted to the school to get the grant). GRFP deadline has passed for this year, but I think the FLAS deadline is in February. You might also check Ford Foundation (if you're eligible). Basically you are looking for "predoctoral" fellowships... a lot of them you can apply to before getting accepted to the school, as well as in your first and second years (or forever, with respect to FLAS)
  12. incredibly, last round i had a 2 month gap between when the review panel met and when i got my official results... i imagine it'll be rushed bc of the panel delay... but i have to guess not too rushed. i have been bracing myself for silence until after the new year.
  13. that sometimes happens with the fastlane i remember that occuring occasionally during my last go around. slightly terrifying, but it'll come back
  14. i also heard back that they weren't ready yet and got no info on my app either way...
  15. well, i think this round is totally off because the panels were so late. but, usually the successful applicants hear first because they want to get the ball rolling on the administrative slog that funding disbursal requires....
  16. if the panels met last friday, my guess is acceptances will hear next week or the following... rejections end of january...
  17. hmm anyone else have tidbits of info on this? i mean... we are getting reviewed, right? they're not going to decide they ... don't have the time?
  18. hmmm like... know more about what? about when we'll hear? lol how can they still not have a schedule set?! the shutdown ended so long ago! ugh this does not bode well for a reasonable timeline...
  19. yes, but unfortunately the panel was a victim of the shutdown. i believe it has been delayed til after thanksgiving... your best bet is probably emailing the program officer to get an update
  20. no... sign into fast lane, click on proposal function, then proposal status, then click the # of your proposal. it will have your external peer review date in bold. tho if it was during the shutdown then it didn't happen and still hasn't
  21. well, they already promised a 6 month max window before the shutdown, so that means awards can be announced til Mid February (from the August 15th submission deadline), and i think i have friends who heard late jan/early february last year, so i'd assume at this point this earliest we'd hear is mid feb... but who knows at this point?
  22. hey everyone - i just called the FH office, and unfortunately ALL award notifications went out the 17th. so if you're school hasn't heard anything it's because it's not getting any awards (according to Stephanie in the office)
  23. anyone else thinking maybe FH forgot about their school entirely?
  24. @colorfulcat that is a very interesting suggestion... i am actually curious now because if we are ALL from the same damn school that would suggest something funky is up. but if we're all from different schools maybe we're just all at programs who got the sort end of the stick in terms of response time? blah.
  25. i am reposting this from the wiki jobs/fellowships thread... tho deep down i agree with you "9/20 noon EST. Keep the faith folks! It seems they do it university by university. It's a clusterfuck of a system, but don't make it personal. I'm still waiting too and trying to keep my mind off it. People who have heard and disclosed on here and GradCafe have been of all stripes- accepted, rejected, and alternate- so I think it's an institutional thing and not a selection one"
