Hi, all! I am entertaining the possibility of applying to Georgia State's MA in economics program. I had a question about the GRE. I took the GRE back in June of 2012. My scores were 158 (V), 153 (Q), and 5.5 (AW). I know graduate economics program prefer higher scores on the quantitative section, but I was curious if it was worth it to retake the test when there is no guarantee of a score increase. I already have a master of arts in education from the University of Florida, so I'm hoping this helps prove to the admissions committee that I am able to handle the rigors of graduate education. I know there are many other variables that affect admissions decisions; however, I am hoping to get some feedback from those who retook the test. I would also like to receive feedback from those who applied specifically to this program. Thank you.

Hi, all. I'm excited to be meeting with my Ph.D. advisor soon. For anyone who has already gone through this process, what did you bring to the initial appointment? Anything I should do before meeting with my advisor? Thanks!

Quick update: I emailed the program assistant, and she said she "believe[ed]" the admissions committee would have a decision before March 31. I sure hope it's sooner rather than later so I can weigh all my choices. Good luck!

I'm in a similar boat as you. I interviewed with a program on February 19 and have yet to hear anything. I have a fellowship offer in hand from another university, which I must accept by March 31. I'm not sure if reaching out two weeks after the interview to inquire about an admissions timeline is appropriate. I worry it may be interpreted as unnecessary or excessive. Any insight would be especially appreciated.

Does anyone have any insight into how long it took their program to make a decision about admissions after an interview? From everything I've read here on the forum, the interview means different things for different programs, but I'm also assuming being asked to interview is a good sign. Anyways, I interviewed at UGA on February 19, so this Wednesday will make two weeks. Would it be appropriate to email the graduate coordinator later in the week to ask about their decision timeline? I am currently holding an offer from another school and want to make an informed decision. As always, I welcome your opinions!

I spoke with someone who applied to the program last year, and they said she was not notified until the end of February. Hang tight! Maybe good news is on the way...
