  1. So I will keep this short. I got accepted to DU (University of Denver) for the winter,2014 quarter. They are offering my 10k plus a Peace Corps fellowship. This is big for me with out a doubt. The problem is that I have not had a chance to hear back from my"dream schools" of American and GW and will not until March/April, well after the start of the winter quarter at DU. Sooo I was wondering, other than possiblitiy of loosing out on 13 k for a wasted quarter, what are the downsides to transferring after my first quarter if I got accepted to GW or American? Will GW or American care that I took a quarter somewhere else? Just trying to figure this all out. Thanks!
  2. Hey everyone, Got accepted to both for a MA in International Development and trying to figure out what I should do. I like UCSD for a lot of reasons (especially considering im a CA resident and pay instate tuition) but have heard that DU is much more prestigious and possibly better for gettin a just in the future. It is going to cost like 100k compared to about 40k at UCSD. The both offer focuses in where I want to work (latin America) though the MPIA (Pacific International Affairs) seems to better in this area. I just want to make sure I make the right decision. Is the prestige worth the extra 60k? Thanks!!!
  3. I have just been accepted to both and am having a tough time deciding which one is better. Both offer degrees focused in the area I want to study (poverty alleviation) and offer great internships and practical experience. I guess my question is simple, which one is more prestigious? When an employer is looking at 2 identical resumes with one having gone to SIT and the other Monterey which one will she choose? I have looked all over and have not found anything that helps. There are other factors involved that will help me decide but i would like to know when compared which one holds more weight. Thanks!
  4. So Ive gotten accepted (and hoping to be accepted) to the listed univerisities and institutions for one form of intl Development. Im just trying to figure out which one is the best choice. Denver and UCSD are a bit more policy than practical based than the other two but hold much more prestige. SIT and Monterey are probably closer in line with what exactly I want to do (work in SB development in L.A. through microfinance org) but I wondering if getting the degrees from UCSD or UD will be more benefitical in helping me get a job. UCSD in the MPPA (Pacific Public Affairs) does focus on L.A. which is great but again much more policy driven. Im just a bit lost as to whats the best choice here. All of them are going to cost me about the same so thats not really an issue. Also, does anyone know a bit more about SIT located in Washington DC or Monterey Institute located in Monterey, CA? They are both private and, in my uneducated opinion, do not hold the same status as the other univiersities. Am I wrong? Thanks!
