  1. Is their deadline traditionally 1st Jan? saw some acceptances for wisconsin before 1st jan in results section.Though most are in late jan early feb My info is limited to what is on gradcafe!
  2. Going by past year thread...shoiuld be nervous week for Wisconsin, UIUC, Northwestern applicants! Best of luck everyone! Just hoping for one early to calm the nerves!
  3. U can always browse the result section to get an idea about the decision time for internationals. Some univs donot do any distinction in decision time b/w nationals and internationals.UIUC, Chicago to name some...some (e.g Penn state) do.
  4. Scores are mostly matched electronically...it should not be an issue...For transcripts, one i think they are not much important as u are already uploading an e-copy....and secondly if u had already started the application, they would v ur name in the system.
  5. Yup...surely proving those wrong who think u can't be productive (# of paper wise) in synthesis
  6. An interesting read http://syntheticremarks.com/?p=1328
  7. I think that helps only where there is rolling admission.Someone mentioned here that MIT does not start the review process until 15th dec.But Some programs start offering admissions even before their announced deadline. I think early application (like in 1-2 months early) helps for programmes that have their deadlines in early Feb or mid January.
  8. They did verify my TOEFL scores quickly too (but that was in summers) . Surprising as rest of the univs did on the same day they recieved the scores.
  9. Those of you who have applied to Chicago, have they verfied your GRE scores? I sent mine 15-20 days back. Still the portal says awaiting.
  10. Congrats!!!
  11. I was talking about gradcafe results http://thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php
  12. I got the same email on 15 Nov (international so that may explain date difference) My app got completed today though...recommendation letters were completed today....But in the admission data I don't see any decision by Emory before January....still fingers crossed!!!
  13. Also any heads up about any upcoming decisions? Going by last year thread...some people had heard back from University of Maryland by now...Also someone had mentioned that UIUC had started reviewing applications.
  14. Great share @MassAppeal I anyone knows why does MIT prefer IELTS over TOEFL??.. Their Material Science prog explicitly states "NO TOEFL"
  15. What do u guys think about the diversity part in app of some univs (e.g Northwestern). It is optional...so is it worth writing?
  16. Till when are u guys expecting the first decisions to come out? Going by previous records, I think UIUC is the only major univ which sends out some acceptances before Christmas.
  17. Mentioning one prof is fine if u only want to work with him. However u ll be restricting ur chance of acceptance to availability of space in that certain prof's Lab. For instance, I know that in a certain top 10 school, instead of admission committee taking decision, they will pass on ur application to the prof if u strongly focus him/her in ur SOP . Thus chances of acceptance can decrease.
  18. I don't think u can talk too much about a particular prof's work in detail in SOP. I think 2-3 lines per prof u mention in SOP are enough considering u ll mention 3 profs atleast.
  19. Which material science programmes are worth looking into who generally accept people with Chem majors? Places like MIT seem to prefer people with material science background. I was looking for material science depts that have strong nanoscience groups.Any suggestions ll be appreciated!
  20. Best of Luck to everyone waiting for chem gre result....do share ur scores...
  21. Thanks @asaprocky!
  22. Apologies if u find the Q stupid, but can anyone tell at what time does the GRE Subject scores are usually update? i.e if its 18th Nov...what time exactly? 12::00 a.m EST?
  23. I think 840 is a very decent score...Congrats..
  24. Best of Luck to everyone who is getting GRE Chem scores tomorrow...do share...
  25. Well that may not be true for internationals espicially when applying from a not so known school. In fact From what I have seen, it is the single biggest deciding factor for internationals and can compensate for low GPA/research experience.
