  1. Already accepted position at UVa for spring, turns out I applied for both Spring and Fall accidentally. Turns out I was offered funding for spring and might not have gotten it for Fall so I took it, will be working with their mm/THz group which from what I have heard is top notch!
  2. ^^ Pretty much what you guys said it would be! We talked about my research and projects I worked on, no specific technical questions though he did stump me with, "what would you do if you were given infinite funding and 10 years to work on any problem?" It looks like I will be going to UVa in about a month as he said he wanted me to start (1 month from now) spring and couldn't guarantee me that I would get funding if I wait till fall (have to compete with ALOT more applicants)
  3. It might sound weird that Im worried about that but some places (companies) will drop alot of questions on you when your not expecting it... (Texas Inst. is a good ex.)
  4. Was contacted by a professor from a school I applied to (UVa) (for Fall hes talking about starting in the spring semester??) he said that I was a "good fit" for his lab. We are suppose to "talk" on Skype this Thursday and I'm wondering if this is gonna be like a technical thing where he springs questions on me and grills me for an hour to see if I'm qualified or if its literally a talk about the opportunity. Does anyone here have any thoughts on what this will be? Also if he wants someone for spring and I cant do it this spring will I loose this oppertunity? (working at a company making really good bonuses for the next few months to save for graduate school)

  6. Hi, I am not sure if this is the correct place to post this but I was wondering what it means when a school sends you a letter asking you to apply for their graduate program? I have gotten letters and emails from a couple of places and was wondering if this is an indication that the chances of my being accepted into that school are good...
  7. Hi, Im currently an undergraduate in electrical engineering looking to pursue a masters/PHD in EE or related field. I'm at a top 90 institution in my Sr. year with almost all of my major done. Right now Im sitting at a 3.8 overall 4.0 major GPA and I recently took my GRE. Didnt have time to study or prep aside from the day before (COOP, Sr. Design, research, really long commutes every day...) and got a 163 Quant 164 Verbal. Im wondering if it would be worth it for me to retake the test or not? Its not a cheap test to take and I plan on applying to grad school this December so if I do retake it will be very hard for me to find enough time to prep, Im worried about the low Quant score... I plan on applying to several schools like Ga. Tech, Cornell, UF, UCSD, Purdue, Michigan, ect.
