  1. Comparative Politics. I got a personal email from one of the profs, so I would not lose hope. i am sure they are writing them up still. I wish you the best of luck!!!
  2. I got in GW with 18K stipend (notified yesterday)! I just wanted to let the other GW admit without funding know that his/her 25% chances might be higher because I am 99% sure that I am going to reject that offer (because of a better match with another school). So hang on there tight and wait...it might take me a while to definitely reject (as it is a really good offer), but I am pretty sure I will. I am just waiting to make some final consultations. I hope it works for you and others who are waiting at GW as it is a truly good place.
  3. To the UNC admits; Have you received mail with funding info yet? I was told that they have been mailing them out! If yes, would you mind sharing some of the details?
  4. Thanks for that info. I have heard from reliable sources that Georgetown will fund fully only 12 people this year (they must be broke). So, it makes sense that the bulk of the unfunded admits will be sent later. I just don't understand why does it take GWU so long to make their decisions!
  5. Was the Georgetown admit fake? i have not heard that anyone else has gotten in. Do we know when they will notify people?
  6. We are all aware of the quantification trend in Political Science. many might have heard of the Perestroika and the non-math PolSci scholars who protest, what they think, is the unfair treatment of their work in the leading journals. How does everyone feel about the direction that the field has taken? I would have much rather avoided dealing quantified politics, but seeing the trend I feel pressured to minor in methods. Are there other people out there in the same position?
  7. Since today has been a slow day, I thought of asking a question that might be of interest to many of us. Why did you choose to apply for PhD in PolSci? Is it because you want to become a professor and/or be in the academia or is it something else (e.g. jobs outside the academia). I am particularly interested in hearing from those who have been working for a while and now find themselves wanting to go back to school and pursue a degree in Politics. I, for example, wouldn't necessary want to work in the academia, so how well do you think PhD in PolSci prepares you for other non-research jobs? Thanks.
  8. I am still waiting for further info from them as well. As far as I understand, they are deciding whether to give us more money . Email Carsey and he will give you the most up-to-date specs.
