  1. Justin Bieber shirt, black pants, white shots, remember first impressions are key
  2. Thanks a lot. I do have another if I may. I am planning on joining the Foreign Service and I like to think that I would retire from it. With that being said, what are the pro's and Con's of coming into the foreign service with a Bachelors when compared to a masters degree. Will having a Master's degree improve my chances of advancement within the service? Or is a person with a bachelors degree just as likely as someone with a master's degree to advance? I ask because I just completed undergraduate and have been admitted into a Master's International affairs program and I'm just not sure getting a Master's Degree is "worth" it, if it will not benefit my standing in foreign service, Thanks a lot!
  3. IS there really noone on this forum who will be attending the Patterson School, this coming fall?
  4. I'll be going to Lexington in the FALL, I'll be attending the Patterson school of diplomacy. Anyone else?
  5. Could you please explain to me how the payment is set up? It is my understanding that an entry level FSO will be start out GS-9. However, could you please explain the pay difference between say, Washington D.C and Afghanistan? How much of one's salary is danger pay? I am just curious because I read somewhere that after four years it is likely that an FSO could be clearing 90,000, and I just can't imagine how with the current GS schedule. Thanks a lot!
  6. CurrentFSO: Thank you in advance for taking the time to answer this, and all the other questions, it is much appreciated! My question pertains to massive student loan debt. I am planning on attending Graduate School and by the time I complete I will have amassed around 50k in student loan debt. I understand that student loan debt is quite common nowadays, however, I was wondering if that amount of debt will hinder my chances of becoming an FSO. Moreover, will one typically have issues obtaining a security clearance with that amount of debt? Lastly, do you happen to know if the State Department takes part in the Public Service Loan Forgiveness? Thanks a lot!
  7. I am having a similar problem deciding. The question I have is about degree requirements. Gspia is a 48hour degree while Korbel is a 90 hour degree?? I understand that Korbel is on the quarter system, and not semesters, but how does this add up? Are Korbel classes still 3 hour, or are they more? Any insight highly appreciated!
  8. I have not, so I am assuming I will not be getting any aid.
  9. Has anyone received notification on funding?
  10. I have called them a few times already...I'm beginning to feel uncomfortable ha ha. I called them and they told me that decisions would all be out by the end of NEXT week and that on average they cohort size is approximately 60-70 students.
  11. Does anyone know how many people will be admitted for Fall 2015?
  12. I'm still waiting for my Penn State decison! I am getting anxious! It is my final school to apply to and I hope they contact me soon! Is there anyone else that is still waiting?
  13. @Petri, when did you hear from Penn State? I have applied to the MIA program there but have not heard anything from them ;-(
  14. So if you were offered 20k annually from korbel, basically, they offered you a 50% scholarship? Meaning you would be responsible for paying the other 25k (annually)?
  15. haha, well at least we can say that we were accepted!
  16. Yeah congratulations, good luck on funding!
  17. I just checked the korbel website, is it true that the tuition is 40,000 per year? So that would be 80,000 for the Master's program, just in tuition? How do they expect anyone to pay for it??
  18. I just got the email from Korbel, I will not be receiving funding, therefore I will not be able to pay 50k out of pocket. Oh well
