I am presenting at a conference in April of next year. Can I put this conference on my CV for a current application? I'm not sure if this is acceptable or not. Thanks

I simply started this post to see if anyone is in the same boat that I am, and not for any expert advice. I just wanted to see if anyone else had the same concerns, and if they had some general information. That is what I was asking. I realize I can consult the dept. I am in to get better information. I have done this, and I accepted the offer with the possibility of funding for next year. So, although I am unfunded now, the possibility of a lack of funding in the future is a concern of mine.

This is what I have heard from professors at other universities and from watching the news. The SUNY system, in general, has been affected by the downturn in the economy, as have many schools. This is just what I have heard. I am not saying that it is 100% true, but I think I am justified, as a non-funded student, to be a little worried.

Is anyone else worried about the SUNY system and the possibility of A lack of funding in the coming years?

A quick question: Is it possible/likely/looked down upon to try to transfer to another university's PhD program if you are unsatisfied at your current school after a year of study. I am asking this because my partner was accepted with full funding and a fellowship at another, possibly better, school, but chose to attend the school that we BOTH were accepted to. I am unfunded, so if it doesn't work out for me, I want to know if she will be able to transfer (if she wants to) to another school that will better fit her skill level. Thanks.
