  1. Thanks alot. That was very insightful. Did you get into any schools you applied to?
  2. Hi guys, So I have decided to do an MPP in one of those big policy schools in the US.Now from what I have learnt prior work experience is given a great deal of importance during admission and I want to know the kind of work that would help increase my chances of admission. I am planning to work for a year or two and right now have two job offers in hand. 1. Campaigner at Amnesty international (Great recognition as an international organisation) 2. Researcher/Coordinator at a local NGO (Primarily to do with research in the social sciences and is therefore relevant to policy studies from a scholarly point of view). I an equally interested in both the job offers and so my decision will be based solely on which of these jobs will add more value to my resume and help get me into a good school. Any advice? P.S - My under graduation degree is in a totally unrelated field (engineering) and my GPA is very average, so work experience is crucial in my application
  3. thanks alot ...........that was very helpful indeed Did you get into any of those schools you have applied to? I am planning to apply to the same schools including georgetown, sais and george washington (purely because its in d.c) Apart from being such a beautiful city ,is it an added advantage studying at the capital? Im not a citizen of US and so federal jobs are out of the equation. Whats your take on that?
  4. Hi guys I want to do an MPP/MPA in one of the top schools in the US . Is the curriculum more economic centric or political centric? How much calculus is really involved it ? I love political science but i m not too interested in economics or calculus for that matter. Since my under graduation is engineering I do not know much about MPP/MPA. Anybody with a good idea of what the course is really about? Will it be useful in a political career? Help me out here. I am confused
  5. Hi guys I have a real interest in politics and I am considering doing a masters in its related field. The problem is that a masters in political science is not going to get me jobs very easily so its not really a viable option. For that matter I am considering doing a masters in public affairs. But i m confused if i should do a masters in public affairs or do law. Ideally law would be the best option but i m not American and a the law system is different in my country and I cannot enroll as a lawyer here with a JD.But the other dilemma i face is that I am not too keen on learning economics or calculus. And both the MPP and MPA are quant heavy. So what do you think is the right option? Anyone with good advice on this?
