Does anyone know what it usually means when the website says " Please contact the Admissions Office" under "decision?" Does this usually mean a good or bad thing? I'm kind of on the edge of a breakdown right now. Somebody please help!

I've had 4 rejections so far and 1 waitlist. Still waiting to hear back from two schools. I've been reading the posts on this thread and feel comforted that others are in the same position as I am and that I'm not alone. Does anyone have backup plans? The thing that bugs me is that I feel that I am a competitive applicant (great GPA, lots of clinical and volunteer experience, average GRE scores); however, I don't know really what more it is that I have to do to make myself "stand out".
For those that are in the same boat as I am, what are your backup plans?
My backup plan if I don't get in this time around is to take next year and take the pre-reqs somewhere (I'm not an SLP undergrad), study and retake the GRE and then re-apply. My undergrad school will be starting a new Grad program in Speech Pathology next year, so I can always re-apply at my alma mater! However, I'm just hoping I can get in somewhere this year so that I can save myself the headache and heartache of this admission process!

So I called Southeastern Louisiana University and all they told me is that letters were sent out March 14th. It has been 10 days and I still haven't received anything! I am trying to be patient, but I am feeling disheartened. Excuse me while I go cry in a corner. :'(

So I had a dream that I got accepted to Southeastern. Hoping that my dream tells the future!!

I do! Identical twin. Are you identical or fraternal?
I am fraternal! Sometimes my sister and I have to show our IDs to people just because they don't believe we are twins! hahaha!!
-
Thanks twinguy7! do you have a twin? lol I do!
-
Does anyone know if no news is good news? People on here have already heard back from Southeastern Louisiana University and I haven't heard anything! Should I call the school on Monday if I don't get anything tomorrow? Thanks!

This has definetly been a long month. And I have a feeling that April will drag on also.
I know. I feel an emotional breakdown coming on. It's gonna happen.

@ Branderz3 I am in southern California and I got my rejection letter yesterday from SELU.
awww!! I'm sorry .. I still haven't received anything from them yet. Maybe tomorrow!

Currently in freak out mode.

Does anyone know if schools send out their letters in waves? I'm am expecting to hear back from Southeastern Louisiana University soon. I checked the results page, and people have already gotten rejection and acception letters 2-3 days ago! Granted, I am in St. Louis so it may take longer for it to arrive, but I am going crazy over here! I need to know!! Is no news good news?
-
I am expecting to get a letter today or tomorrow. I'm so nervous I could cry. Just please let me get at least one acceptance. PLEASE!! Someone help me stay calm.
-
I'm so sorry!!! I don't know you personally but I am praying for an acceptance to come your way! And I really believe that what is meant to be will always happen- even if it's not the way we originally planned. *hugs*
Aww thank you!! That means a lot to me! I was talking to my friends about it and she pointed out that "deferred" does sound like "the third." Which is kind of funny, but not funny at the same time! I'm not sure what deferred even means. Is it like a wait-list?
-
There is hope!! #3 is super high and most schools go way beyond that!! My fingers crossed for you
Thank you! But I misunderstood, I'm not actually number 3 on the list. I was deferred. My mom get my letter at home and I she called me to tell me what it said and I thought she said I was number 3, so I heard wrong. I am so sad now!
-
Wait-listed again! I know it's better than a rejection, but I'm going insane over here! But I guess it's pretty good for not having a background in SLP and having mediocre GRE scores!! Someone please tell me there is still hope. I need a little string of hope right now..

Deferred from the U. of Central Missouri. It's a positive start I guess!
What does deferred mean? I got wait-listed there, I am number 3
-
I hope so!!! I just withdrew from IU, so hopefully they let you all know something soon I went there for undergrad and it is a fantastic program!
Ahh! That is so exciting! I hope I get in! I always loved the Hoosiers!!

Hey everyone! Has anyone else applied to the University of Central Missouri? On their website it says that letters are mailed no later than March 1st and I still haven't received anything! I know I should be patient, but I am getting antsy! Do you think it would be ok to call and ask? Thanks!
NOT EVEN ONE ACCEPTANCE YET? LETS VENT HERE!!

Thank you! I hope you get in somewhere this fall! I know you can get in somewhere, because you GRE scores are a little higher than mine! I know that some school also have Spring admissions as well!
