Hi,
I am looking to pursure research in Neuroscience, particularly in Cognitive Neuroscience (maybe memory or perception related).
Profile is as follows:
Bachelor of Engineering(Hons.) in Biotechnology from a prestigious Indian University.
CGPA (converted to scale of 4) : 3.64 (cgpa would been been in 3.8 range if not for my 1st semester)
TOEFL : 118
GRE: V-158 Q-162 A W-4.5
Undergrad included a variety of courses - few courses each in Calculus, Statistics, Physics, Chemistry and Programming. Completed plenty of biology courses. (since major is biotechnology).
No psychology or cognitive science courses though.
Research experience may be the main problem. Though I have done 4 lab courses (basically lab methods and experiments), I have done only 2 research projects (not thesis) and that too in unrelated fields. Thus, no publications, and no conferences too. Research opportunities for undergrads in India are non-existent.
I know I probably cannot apply for PhD programs with this profile. But I am considering a masters in neuroscience right now with plans to get into PhD programs after completing the masters.
Which universities in US and Canada have good masters programs and what is my chance of getting into them? I have checked many of individual university websites but am unable to judge since I studied in a different system of education.
Thanks.
