Okay so I am currently a Biology Major at a small state school. I am in the honors program, and I am working on raising my GPA of 3.43. The only reason my GPA is so low is because I took an incredibly difficult chemistry course over the summer, and wound up with a C. I have trouble with chemistry so probably not the smartest decision. So I am working to graduate a year early just because that is something I want to do. I was more of a Pre-med major, but realized that is not really what I want to do with my life. I am good with my hands and have always liked building things, and I want to do something with that. For that reason I want to pursue a masters in mechanical engineering. I want to work with robotics and prosthetics, and I feel my biology background could be of help. I am currently a research assistant at my school for a joint project that works with Yale. The problem is that my school does not have an engineering program, so I was just planning on taking Physics(which at my school is meant for engineers, even though we don't actually have an engineering program) and some higher level math courses(I am already in Calculus). So, what I'm wondering is how difficult will it be for me to get into a masters program for mechanical engineering? Then, what sort of schools should I be applying for? Will I be judged more harshly because I go to a small state school? Finally, are there more scholarships available to women going into engineering?
