  1. Do you mean $20k for the full 2 year program? Only 2 semesters a year, right?

I was under the impression that LBJ was one of the stingier schools with funds, which made sense being a state school. So I was just shocked to get my letter today with $15k a year plus in-state tuition. It makes UT unbelievably cheap... wow, I need to go visit, but I've got some serious thinking to do.

same here--I was surprised to be named one of the LBJ Fellows with 5k per semester and in state tuition as well. This completely covers tuition for both years which is amazing news. I'm really looking forward to visiting campus and hopefully this will help me make a decision!

  2. Anyone heard anything about an admitted students day or other similar event?? with the quick turnaround time to make a decision on schools, i would imagine it would need to be pretty soon.

I emailed Mr. Yeary who said info regarding admitted student days would be in the documents we'll be receiving this week. I'm assuming he was referring to the official letter from the LBJ school? I tried to find out when the visitation days took place last year, but with no luck...anyone have an idea? I'd love to get the ball rolling with travel plans so I hope they do let us know soon :)

  3. Crazy how up and down this whole process can be, right? Just a couple of hours ago I was feeling a bit down about getting wait listed at Princeton, and now I'm smiling again, thanks to an admission to Michigan and a very generous funding offer from Yale.

I'm not sure how everyone else is coping with the roller coaster ride of results, but I just keep trying to remind myself that there are a lot of great programs out there that can provide incredible and unique opportunities to those students who seek them out. No one school is perfect. I'm trying to have faith in the sometimes confounding admissions process by reminding myself and that things tend to work out in the end, even if it's not always as we might have envisioned or hoped.

Anyway, my congratulations to everyone who got good news from the Ford School today and my sympathies to those who don't get the result they were looking for.

I was just feeling the same way, IKB... there are definitely highs and lows throughout this process, but I feel so relieved that the wait is over. Congrats to everyone who's been accepted, and best of luck to everyone who is still watching and waiting. It's so important to stay positive..TGIF!!!

  4. Unfortunately I won't be attending Visitation Day. I'm really bummed, actually--but I just can't afford the flight from Florida right now. I asked about funding, but they said none was available. I'm hoping to visit sometime in late March/early April and hopefully visit other programs (assuming I get accepted to other programs as well, fingers crossed!)

Good luck to everyone throughout the decision making process:)

  5. Although I have yet to visit campus, I have gotten the impression that faculty, students, and staff are extremely friendly and responsive. I was just accepted to the MPP in Education Policy program, which was appealing to me because of the ability to obtain a professional degree with a more education-based focus/curriculum. I'm looking forward to learning more about the program and the university.

  6. I just want to echo what all the other posters have mentioned--Although I was never a student at UM, I grew up in the area and also worked in close proximity to the university while living on Miami Beach. The drive from South Beach is not a short one--30-45 minutes at best. A better bet is to stick to the Coral Gables/South Miami area, or other areas like Coconut Grove, Brickell, or even Kendall. Not having a car in this city is EXTREMELY limiting. Miami is a beautiful, culturally diverse, fun place to live though! Good luck to all :)
