  1. I guess you're right! I was thinking of it as a sub section. Thanks again!
  2. @CaliforniaDreamer Thanks! I believe they are only offering one concentration right now: Individuals, family, and groups (IFG). I was accepted into their Title IV E program.
  3. Congrats to both!
  4. Just got accepted today! Super pumped!!!
  5. Awesome! Congrats @swrker14! How did they notify you?
  6. I know what you mean. If you get into UCLA that will be a tough decision: Move to LA or wait to re-apply to Berkeley. I don't know what your Stats and experience are but I'm sure you will have a better chance if you re-apply. You may want to wait until admission season dies down and then ask someone in the department if they wouldn't mind taking a look at your file and giving some feedback on how you could strengthen your app. I would think re-applying would show that you are really determined to get into the program. I'm not sure if you've already read this post/thread, but I definitely found it very helpful and informative: Just know that everything will work out in time! Good luck to you!
  7. Sorry to hear @esimanon. Hopefully you will get into UCLA. I think dreet51 makes a good suggestion. I know if I do not get into any of the programs I applied to I will definitely be contacting the departments to see how I can strengthen my application for next time around. Wishing you good news from UCLA!
  8. I'm wondering which concentrations everyone applied to?
  9. Really? That would be great! I thought I would feel relieved after all my apps were in, but the waiting game feels just as stressful. Good luck to all!
  10. Hi HopefulMSW, The initial card I got in the mail a couple months back acknowledging receipt of my complete application said they would be notifying people in April, but the impression I got after my interview seemed like it could be earlier than that...? Also, I noticed that you are deciding between BU and Simmons. I'm wondering why you chose programs on the East Coast? I ask because I'm from MA but live in the Bay Area (have been living here for about 10 yrs now). I considered doing a program back home, but I love the Bay and plan on staying and working out here so it just made sense for me to apply to programs in the Bay Area. Do you plan on permanently moving East?
  11. Good luck! Sending positive interviewing vibes your way! lol
  12. Have you interviewed yet? If so, how did it go?!
  13. The email I received stated they were holding interviews on 3/14 and 3/20, but that is for those who applied for Title IV-E. The email also said they are still reviewing applications and admission decisions had not been made yet. Since you applied to CMH concentration then you could very well be notified before or around that time.... Unless they wait to send them all out at once.... ???
  14. Are you asking about scholarship or Title IV-E program? Wondering because I was just contacted by Berkeley today to schedule interview for Title IV-E.
  15. No, and I didn't ask because I figured they wouldn't want to reveal too much information.
  16. Yea, I'm curious about their selection process. Like you, I also figured they wouldn't be considering people who haven't been admitted but I guess you never know. Either way, I'll take it as a good sign
  17. I received a call inviting me to interview for the Title IV-E program. I'm super excited and nervous. Anyone else apply to Title IV-E?
  18. I was recently invited to interview for a title iv-e program and am super nervous! I was told I would need to complete a writing exercise right before the panel interview as part of the interview process! Has anyone else been contacted for a title iv-e interview and as nervous (and excited!) as I am? Anyone that's been through this process and have any advice to share? I haven't received notification that I've been accepted into the msw program but I'm assuming they are at least considering my application if the title iv-e department is requesting an interview...?
  19. 1) One of the essay topics for my grad application asks us to choose an issue relevant to social welfare and recommend how we would address the problem, assuming we had all the resources to do so. What would you recommend in terms of how to approach this topic? I was thinking about addressing child poverty. Do you think this is too broad of a topic to choose or should I be more specific? 2) I'm changing careers from Human Resources to Social Work and want to work in the child welfare field. For the past 7 years I have worked for a Social Services/ Community Mental Health organization, but as support staff to management and mental health practitioners. I've seen the work of our remarkable staff, but I do not have much hands on experience. Several months ago I started mentoring a young boy through a mentor program and I've also volunteered for a few weeks overseas caring for abused, neglected, and orphaned children, but so far that is the extent of my direct volunteer experience. My experience overseas and experiences with my mentee have further confirmed my decision to purse a career in social work. My question is: In terms of revising my resume, what approach would you recommend in tying the non-direct work experience with my interest in the social work field? Thanks for any advice you can offer!
