Hi myself Pinaki, I have applied for Stony Brook PhD chemistry but have not heard anything yet, has anyone applied there
I heard on January 8th. "Our two formal visiting days this year will be Friday, February 21, and Friday, March 14, 2014."

I applied chemical biology/physical chemistry. Apparently the prof was trying to call me and not getting through so he sent me an email. I don't know what the problem was because I have been staring at my cell since December! Ha!
Good luck!
ETA: on my phone messing things up sorry!

Thank you for your post, I have very similar stats to you, but can't attest that my letters were as good. You've reassured me, and I'm crossing my fingers and neurotically checking my e-mail/phone! May I ask what division your interest was in?

You're awesome.

My friend, your gpa, scores and experience is very similar to mine! In fact your chem GRE is exactly the same as mine. You have given me hope thank you. Was there anything special that you think contributed to your application?
I am glad! I think they take a holistic view of your potential as a scientist, not just your standardized testing skills, lol. I think my recs were great. I graduated in 2012 and have been working as a lab tech/pretend graduate student since then. I would imagine that the letter from my current PI attesting to my success driving a project forward was the strongest part of my application.
Good luck!

I got into Caltech! I'll post my stats to reassure future applicants who bomb the chem GRE: 3.52 gpa from a SLAC, 3 years ugrad research, 1.5 years as a lab tech/pseudo grad student, one 5th author pub, a few posters, 161Q/163V/5.0, and, the killer: a 600 on the chem GRE. That's the 20th percentile. So don't despair, future applicants! It might not be a big deal.

UCLA tricked acceptances all the way into March last year (I know someone who heard then), so there is reason to remain hopeful even if you don't hear back right away!
Thanks for the tip. Being patient is not something I wrote on my application lol.

The slow trickle of UCLA acceptances is driving me crazy!

Here's a gem from my NYU acceptance letter: "NYU's offer is not only financially very lucrative..." I look forward to comparing their offer to Columbia's fellowship.
