  1. I vote for the second topic! I have just completed stduying a graduate course in virology and I think studying mechanism of virus replication is an improtant, interesting and promising research area.
  2. YES I think most if not all canadian schools guarantee full funding for both master and PhD students especially in the sciences.
  3. I'm wondernig too, especially in the biological sciences!
  4. Well,I think 1 or 2 breaks would be enough. That would be fine.
  5. I'm into biological sciences and I have read on the website of New York University/Biomedical Graduate Program that they done' require the GRE test as they believe it doesn't really indicate wheather you will be a good grad student or not! I don't know what their histroy department say.
  6. Really??? Can I get a break during the test whenever I want?!
  7. Hi JoeySsance, Thank you for your help and for sharing those valuable information with us. I wonder if we should rely on "old" materials for preparing for the GRE.I myself decided to purchase new versions of the popular GRE prep.books as Barron's and Kaplan.Actually I am afraid that old versions of those books may contain unnecessary questions/exercises.Although I am an international applicant and many of these books cost me a lot of money but I decided to go for it.
  8. That's impressive musicforfun.
  9. That's a good idea starmaker,thank you.
  10. That's what I'm afraid of.Picking up a grad school then discover later that it's just like a prison. I used to look for the coursework I enjoy to learn and the research topics I'm interested in but rarely considered the place/social fit, however I have started to consider social fit and other issues relating to my life as both a grad school student and a human being. I was considering a program in well ranked university and I thought it was designed as I wished concerning coursework and reseach in addition to having a high rate of international applicants acceptance BUT I discovered that the school is located in a very little town or let's say a village with nearly 25.000 habitants. The school even suggessted that grad students may live in another nearby town and commute everyday to their program. Thank you starmaker and thank you adaptations.
  11. Hi everybody, I was wondering which is better for a graduate student, attending a grad school in a little town where he/she would be able to focus on coursework and research OR attending a school in a big city with many entertainment places, culture events, museums and all what big cities could provide. I have been living in a little town most of my life,so I am eager to live in a big city but I am worried about the distractions in big cities that might hinder my progress in grad school "if I got in next season". I know that it depends on which schools will accept me,wheather it's in a little town or located in a big city I will accept their offer but since I am still in the period of preparing my app.for the coming 2011 season I was wondering If I should focus on applying to grad schools located in large cities. Any opinions or experiences would be appreciated.
  12. That's impressive!
  13. I was wondering when the best time to contact professors is? If I am going to apply for fall 2011 and I will send out my applications on october 2011.Do you think it is reasonable to start contacting prof.on the the coming spring i.e. April 2010 or May 2010 to find out if they accept new grad students in their labs or not before makine my offical application?
  14. Are you planning to take the NEW GRE format? ETS has announced that the new foramt of the GRE will be launched on August 2011,so if you want to take the new GRE,it will be available form August 1st.However if you want to take the old GRE "just like me",you should prepeare to take it before August 1st.

  19. Hi,

I will try to send you some links for biology master programs that have neuroscience/computional biology tracks.

    Good Luck

    Hatem

  20. I am going to apply for a master in Biology for fall 2011.There are many fully funded biology master degrees especially in the south and midwest states. You can search for them and many of them are having a neuroscience/computional biology courses or at least they have many faculty members who are doing research im neuroscience/computional biology. As for your lack of biology courses, why don't you take some stand alone courses in biosciences in addition to self study then take the Biology GRE test.
  21. Hi,

    Thanks for replying my message.

Actually I will apply for fall 2011,becuase I am going to attend some graduate courses and may conduct a small graduate research to improve my application . I graduated 5 years ago and I am working in a non scientific career and I have no undergrad research experience.

I wish you good luck in your coming interview.

  22. I'm sorry but the true title of the book is "How People Grow: What the Bible Reveals About Personal Growth" I am reading the arabic edition which is titled "how can we grow".
  23. How Can We Grow. A book by Dr.John Townsend and Dr.Henry Cloud. It's a book about spiritual growth and how can we live a better life by going through this growth. Both of the authors are psychologists but they are also active christians. In their book they focus on the relationship with God as they believe that God is the main source of spiritual growth."and me too". Although I am muslim while the two authors are christians and using many statements from the bible and wrote a lot about the christ, but I find the book very helpful and very inetersting too. I found many of the thoughts they wrote about are really found in holy book like Quran and Bible. They used many bible statements which are similar and so close to those found in the Quran. I recommend this book to those who suffer from depression, anxiety, bad relationships and everyone who seeks spiritual growth.
