  1. Hi, I am not a super successful student. At the moment my GPA is approx 3.7/4.0. It may sound like I am a well achieving student but the degree that I am studying is Information Technology and it is 3 years, therefore UC and other top unis don't really accept. I would like to study in San Francisco because that's where the Silicon valley is so it would be quite easy for me to interact with start-ups. My question is which universities in San Francisco would give scholarships for non US citizens easily for their MSc CompSci degrees?
  2. I will not be able to get an H1B as I don't have a 4 year undergraduate degree(yes that is required for H1B visa) So I will be either holding J1 or F1 visa. So my question is, considering that I did arrange a company to work with and will be getting J1 or F1 visa, should I enroll to master's degrees or postgraduate certificate?
  3. Well I was drowsy when I started this topic. So let me rephrase my question: I've been told that I would be considered for MEng in Soft Eng degree if I apply for it, also there are other unis offering MSc in Comp Sci degree. Which degree is better in terms of employment? Also which unis offer better internship opportunities compared to other unis? FYI, the 4th year is not "offering" anything more than standard 3 year bachelors in Australia. I have taken almost all technical subjects that uni offers. The purpose of 4th year is to write a thesis. I have been doing research for my vacation semesters(so that makes two semesters of intensive research, which is equivalent to one year of study period). I am also an international student and studying 4th year would cost me $30,000k and Australia is an expensive country(where you pay for $800/m for your rental). So in terms of "expenses" I'd better be doing Masters directly.
  4. Well, what I am saying is I will already find an employer who would want to sponsor me for an H1B visa, that's not a problem(if I cannot then I wouldn't do any of the rest)
  5. Hi all, First of all, I am studying a 3 year bachelor degree in Australia which is not equivalent to 4 year US undergrad degree. I talked with a friend of mine who lives in the US, he discourages me to study Masters Degree over in the US as if you do masters there it would be only necessary to become an academics. My intention is to find a start up company before I go to US and work there while I am studying( I prefer study to be a distance education) and once I graduate, they can sponsor me for an H1B. By the way I would like to study Computer Science. Now I heard that there is something called CPT and you can work as many hours you can if it is part of your degree. Now I am a bit undecided whether if I should study one year Postgraduate certificate or Masters degree. Any ideas or recommendations?
  6. Hi all, I am studying a three year Bachelor of Information Technology degree in Australia. My current GPA is 3.79/4.00. However, as my degree is three year most unis are requiring an extra honours year, which is not what I am after. So far only Cornell said that they would accept my degree for their MEng degree. My criterias are: 1) Highly reputed in computer science 2) Easy to find internships while doing Masters 3) Easy to find jobs after graduation
