hmmm.. for me... I had my not-getting-in breakdown months ago. what I do in my spare time -- is continue to work on my system. I have actually made some leaps of progress. bounds. I have come to terms with the fact that I don't actually need to graduate school to do what I'm doing. I can actually do it on my own and be comfortable. school would be nice but it isn't necessary.

<3 you may have been genuinely curious but you forced yourself to like it and now that it's over you boast it as a status symbol like a medal or trophy to add to the collection you don't really think for yourself

I was going to mention that the cliff notes would be your best bet --then you could skip the hell and use your imagination . make faust x10 better ya are you sure you're not 'liking' faust because you're proud you read a famous old book or becAuse you genuinely enjoyed reading it? yaaa I bet you genuinely enjoyed thus spoke zarathustra too (pyuuuke) that was good for the first 30 minutes before my high wore off

hmmm actually maybe the most important part in writing is reading with a purpose -- and understanding various works respective from your own work. this is a sort of 'dialectical research' that gives your work grounds for growth and development. the one thing that I resent about other students is that they're really only experts at sounding smart -- not that they actually have anything decent to contribute. worry more about developing your core concepts than put writing itself. don't even bother trying to sound smart. as you read a lot, you should develop the capacity to 'sound smart' as you do late revisions. -

before I started writing my book (metaphysics of being and nothingness) I was doing a lot of independent research. ideas came together. I liked a lot of pot and spent hours day dreaming, staring at archaic diagrams for hours on end, reading those exhausting 10 pages of whatever tome I had in front of me... as my system as my system per se really became coherent enough to describe, I started writing. even as I was writing, it all f it want entirely coherent yet. I just kept at it with an emphasis on its systemic nature and making sure concepts and arguments flowed together without contradiction. I wrote and rewrote for months. until finally I decided that it didn't suck SO bad that I wanted it printed. now that I have the first edition completed, and I've been thinking about it and continuing independent research... I know my second edition will be what will impact history. my goal know is to read as extensively as possible, making mental notes and dreaming through most of it. (it really takes me forever to get through just 20 pages of the critique of pure reason) .... after two years of reading and research, I'll go back and start reading with a plan. .il have my chapters, then various topics, and their various points, drawn out under eachother(like a tree) and then after 6 months of that I'll just fill in the blanks and finish it out. I'll send it to a professional editor, too. so it's mostly mental planning and structuring over long periods of time. -
no it isn't. what's wrong with you? ...maybe if you skip large portions of it is somewhat bearable.. bet you'd like Stephen king. welcome to the 21st century Ã’ooooooo

wait a minute... if we go by catwomsns definition, then isnt that essentially saying that there is no racism in the US at all? -that ypud luterally need something like apartheid for there to be 'racism'? so, even as a white male, i can make all the racist commentary i want and still not technically (or academically,) racist? ...ya thats still pretty stupid. talk about abusing 'academia' to set standards.
-
you know it doesnt matter how smart you -sound- if your point is stupid?
-
....damn it. i suppose a topic as sensitive as this really deserves more effort on my part. the utmost effort. that im simply not here to exercise. im here to troll . not challenge the bedrock of american demoliberal culture and ethical standards. that is one monster im just going to pass on by....
-
is it really philosophy or is it an enforcement of american liberal democratic culture? its this way because that is what the 'definition' of it is. period. and if you disagree --which you better not if youre a white male-- then youre a nazi and you WILL be persecuted to the fullest extent. the end consequence of feminist and race theory isnt philosophy -- they are the establishment of an ethical status quo.
-
the state/social-politic and culture is a direct reflection of the quality, and race, of the people who perpetuate it. or are northwestern europeans just 'lucky' that they live in near perfect states? or am i not allowed to do philosophy if it implies racism? hey guess why the US will never be as good as finland (---> expelled and barred from academia forever)
-
not
-
thats kind of dumb. ive lived all over the world and suffered racsim everywhere. the perpetuator in every case wields some kind of power -- social or emotional. but look what the feminists and race theorists did: now it is even impossible for blacks or mexicans to be racist . good philosophizing O_O

eww arizona theyre all ethicists its disgusting did you look at the faculty page? i almost threw up

dfindley replied to Deliberate's topic in Philosophy
ya loric. i thought that the original arguments and concepts in my treatise, if acknowledged, would get me in no problem. and then the latest edition of my 'ontology of the elements' is CUT THROAT. the real test though is not my work -- but the evaluating committees. are they genuinely intelligent or are they grown up versions of barscenegambler? ... will they throw out genius because of a low gpa ..? with or without acknowledging it? will they have been bored to death by countless essays (comparing kant/hume jesus/lao tzu etc) before they get to mine and therefor not have the mental stamina to give my work the attention it needs...? who knows..? -
esteemed genius.... .....i am an embarrassment!

god i cant believe this stupid obsession with this forum. PS BSG, i would have given you advice earlier if you werent such a prick, but comparing ethics between kant and hume wonr cut it either. its just as bad or worse. they want analysis into RELEVANTmatters or topics in philosophy. kant/hume ethics arent relevant. at all. and nobody gives a shit. and they know damn well that your interest in such a topic is contrived at best. so now that it really is too late to do another one, remember for next year you want to show promising work that illustrates genuine, personal interest in a topic or field. (so i am kind of helping you out a little bit, not being a complete asshole) -

hahaha thats ok, you can be better than me. you do a good job, i like that. shame you wont share you WS topic <3 cant be worse than comparing socrates and confucius like barscenegambler -
(ps i yes i do use the pronoun 'he' for a women when i entertain the hypothetical notion that he might actually be practicing philosophy)
-
ive never read any decent philosophy from a woman. ever. ayn rand came really close, but i had to conclude he was more inspirational than genuinely decent as a philosopher.
