Hi, I've started in 2008 a PhD in Applied Maths in Germany, after a degree in Engineering. Don't know about the US (I'm European), but here PhD are basically researchers (public employees) who carry out a thesis, i.e. we get a salary corresponding to 2/3 of a full postdoctoral position and we have one semester of TA during the whole Doctorate. Not being willing to pursue the academic career, I'm wondering my employment as a PhD counts as working experience. For example, can I insert in my cv/resume the PhD both in "education" as a degree and in "work experience" as a researcher position. Thanks, A.
