Next spring I'm starting in a thesis-based master's program with the intent to beef up my research skills so I can apply to Ph.D programs. I'm 44. Meanwhile, the 57-year old owner of the small recruiting company for which I work is ABD (she's in heavy research mode, so we don't see much of her these days). So no, 28 is not too old.
