I'm coming from an interdisciplinary field and know a couple people in the Berkeley program so I've heard a little about it. I see you're also applying to English and American studies programs?? I applied to some American studies programs as well and I think that or Ethnic studies would be a good fit for me. Have you heard back from anywhere else yet?

I actually found it really relieving because my GRE scores weren't spectacular. Although I definitely did need to spend more time on my SOP, I think it's a lot better reflection of who I am/the work I'm interested in producing rather than my test scores. I'm expecting we'll start to hear back in the next couple weeks… how are you feeling??

verycunning, CONGRATS!!! Can't believe you're already hearing back! I didn't think that we'd start to hear back until late Jan at the earliest. abitstartled, I'm not applying to GW, and I'm not sure about the word limit, but I feel like it shouldn't be too much of a big deal as long as you don't go way over? I would try to pare it down as much as possible and make it concise and tight, but I feel like a couple hundred more words isn't that much. Anyone else have thoughts on that?
