  1. this was what I wondered too. I called GRE and what tjey said is that if you chose schools for subj. test scores and stated your general scores to be sent to those schools you do not need to ask for general scores to be sent. that means if you arranged your schools for sub. before test and wanted your general to be sent too, your general scores will be sent to those schools for free, which is great.
  2. I was really into PoMo lit, but I changed my mind for now. as far I am concerned, WashU has a great postmodern specialization.
  3. I would suggest you look at the program pages of the schools you are applying. but it is true that most of English programs will not even look at your math score. So, I wouldn't retake GRE just for math, which is useless at this point for an English student. Also I don't think your gre verbal score is low. I think it is quite normal, and will not be a problem for you. If I were you, I wouldn't think abouy GRE anymore. I beleive you are good at this point. good luck.
  4. I am an international student. I am new to the forum and I need some help. I am going to apply for a phd program in Literaure, so my questions are: 1. I did my undergrad in my country; and I am doing my masters in the us. my undergrad gpa is 3.2; grad gpa: 4.00 (school is a tier-3 university). I have strong letters, SoP, writing sample; but I havent taken GRE yet, so I am really afraid of it. assume I will get a low score, do I have chance to be admitted by any program in the us as an internaional? 2. I cannot find any back up schools which guarantees funding. Funding is utmost important for me. can you suggest any back up schools? 3. many friends discourage me applying ivy schools since I am not a graduate of a top ranked school. do you thing it does matter which school you are graduated from? 4. I consider schools like Cornell, Brandeis, NYU, UPitt, UMich, WUSTL, and Northeastern for now. any suggestions, advice?
