Also, congrats to everyone who got acceptances so far! It must feel great!!
If you haven't already, could you please share what your subfield is? (Just so those of us who didn't hear back yet can gauge our chances at the particular school...) Thanks!

Could someone please tell me where the "results page" is? Is it a forum on this website? Or do you mean results are being posted on school websites?
Thank you!!

Where are the Berkeley acceptances posted?
Also, any idea when some of the ivy schools will start replying?
Thanks!

were you told that by professors or past applicants? and did they say why?

Now that admissions decisions are getting nearer, I'm starting to regret that I didn't reach out to any profs at my top choices... Do you guys know if it makes a difference to email profs you want to work with? (Anyone with prior experience?) Do you think it's too late to do so now?
Thanks for any advice you can provide!

I thinking about taking two courses at a state college before starting a polisci PhD program in the fall.
I didn't take any courses in calc, econ or stats as an undergraduate so want to catch up before starting a PhD program. (I did Area Studies...)
I need to choose two of the following three courses. Can you please tell me which ones would be most useful for polisci phd programs?
1. Economic Statistics
Use of descriptive and inferential statistical concepts for the analysis of economic data. Topics include measures of central tendency and dispersion, probability theory, discrete and continuous probability distributions, hypothesis testing, regression and correlation analysis.
2. Probability and Statistics
Frequency interpretation of probability. Axioms of probability theory. Discrete probability and combinatorics. Random variables. Distribution and density functions. Moment generating functions and moments. Sampling theory and limit theorems.
3. Calculus I
Continuous functions. Derivatives and applications including graphing, related rates, and optimization. Transcendental functions. L'Hospital's Rule. Antiderivatives. Definite integrals. Area under a curve.
I wish I could take all three but only have enough scholarship money for two. I'd appreciate your input! Thanks!

Does anyone know when admissions committees start reviewing applications?
(I'm having issues with a few parts of my application (ie: no confirmation email from one place, a missing rec letter at another). Do you think if I straighten all of this out by first week of Jan I should be ok?)
Thanks for any advice!

hm.. now I'm even more worried! Is this the case for others as well?

btw, are you guys applying to the Political Science PhD program? Or to some other department? (Maybe the political science department is being slow?)

Hm.. I didn't get anything like that and I just checked my spam and there's nothing in there either..

Did anyone else who applied to Harvard not get a confirmation email yet? I received an email from the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences that said my application was successfully submitted and to look for a confirmation email in the next few days that confirms my application is received... But I have yet to hear back (I submitted my application on the 15th so it's been about 8 days now...)
Anyone else having the same issues?
I just realized this today..and it's too late to call now since their office is closed till Jan 4th... I'm starting to panic a little now, so hopefully someone has some advice!

I've heard a few times that graduate schools are less willing to accept applicants who attended the school as an undergrad...not exactly sure why (I've heard various reasons, such as the desire to diversify student body, etc) Is this just a baseless rumor? Any thoughts? Thanks

What do you need to get into the top China program? I'm assuming all applicants to top 10 schools have almost perfect GPAs, strong research experience, perhaps a published paper, strong language skills, good GRE scores, etc.
Then what is the difference between an applicant who gets into say Harvard, vs Berkeley? Does it come down to the better SOP/research interests? Or what sets them apart?

I'm getting a bit paranoid now... so is Stanford completely done contacting all accepted applicants?
