  1. Hello, I am new to this site and new to blogging. I am currently working in the Construction and Heavy Civil industry and have been doing so for 7 years. I have a bachelors degree in construction management.I have traveled around the world working in UK,Ireland,Australia, and USA. I have always worked as a field engineer or project engineer running the actually physical projects from the ground. I am coming to a stage in my career and life where I no longer have the urge to travel every other year from project to project.I am looking for a more stable position where I can grow roots so to speak. That is enough of the back ground into my long term plans. I have researched several furthering education ideas from Masters in Civil and Construction Management, MBA, PMP, RICS accreditation to Prince 2 certification my intent is to add some diversity to my skill set. Which I think will benefit me in the long run and future employment prospects. I fully enjoy the construction industry and the challenges it brings. I see my career transitioning from daily operations of projects to a financial or broader program/strategic planning. After all cash is king and cash flow is the most important aspect for any industry. Where do you receive cash flow.. in my view... keeping track of projects and emerging industries to ensure your company is competitive and cash positive not for months but several years in advance. My company is not very good at providing training they have the mentality that we will get in the field training (very important for anyone), promotions are not very frequent especially when you have had several years in the field training. They would prefer to keep you in the field. Is their anyone with similar experience that has decide to continue their education through an MBA or similar programs. If so did you find this program beneficial to our career progression? Were you able to transition out of daily supervision to an executive role easily? Any recommendation on Programs would be very appreciated? I looking forward to reading peoples stories.
