  1. I am currently studying pure math as an undergrad with guaranteed admission to the engineering school of Columbia University for my last couple years to complete an additional bachelors in an engineering or applied science discipline. I am intending to apply for applied math PhD programs after undergrad, but I am also pretty interested in computers/electronics and computer/electrical engineering. My question is: I will get a BA in mathematics no matter what, but should I choose to study applied math at CU, or can I study electrical engineering with the same benefits? CU is significantly more prestigious than my current school, so if only my mathematics degree will be looked at by grad admissions committees after attaining an additional electrical engineering degree, I would definitely go for the applied math . But if an electrical engineering degree will also be looked at, then I might go for that. Any opinions/advice?
