  1. Thanks for the info! Yeah I know they have at least 2 weekends, hopefully I will hear but am not sure. Good luck with your interview!
  2. Does anyone know if UCLA is still sending interview invites out? Thanks!!
  3. was anyone told they were on a waitlist? or just no contact? (@ USC)
  4. I was at the 2nd interview session, and no one I knew from it has heard so idk...I'm really hopeful! I didn't apply to too many schools and only got 2 interviews, and a rejection from 1 even after one of the faculty wrote a recommendation email to the committee post interview ( ), so this is kind of my last shot. USC is my top choice over the other one though so I'm remaining hopeful. Yeah it seems like you might have already made your decision haha! they are both great programs so I don't think you're going to be limited either way at all.
  5. Yeah I hope so haha! Which interview weekend did you go to? Btw...to help with your actual question about usc vs uci....did you enjoy the uci area/campus? for a lot of people its hit or miss and it could definitely get tiring/boring after a few years i bet. their program is really strong though, as you were saying. USC hasn't been known for their neuro until recently because of how much $ they are putting into it. I bet in the next several years it will become better recognized. I'd probably base it mostly on faculty interests and location - It seems like both schools are pretty good w/ funding. Im sure some other people have insight too!
  6. Idk, hmm that's weird, I heard that news this week on Monday. Everyone I'm in contact with at my interview weekend didn't hear anything - maybe they consider all but don't send out all at once or something. seems strange.
  7. A professor at USC I spoke with said they haven't sent the offers out yet, and Mallory in the grad office said the same....You already heard back? Was it over email? Maybe it depends on the interview weekend?
  8. nope the USC thing was addressed to everyone I'm not too sure if there are opportunities to TA at UCSF because there's no undergraduates (which might be a plus if you're not interested in TAing). Hmm, I feel like it might be subjective, I thought Berkeley was pretty relaxed and I worked w/ the psych dept and helen wills when I was there. The berkeley campus is definitely more aesthetically pleasing too haha. Depending on your area, UCSF might have better faculty because of their heavy neurobio focus. I feel that berkeley has a more broad focus, with faculty who do cognitive/imaging/neurobio/etc.
  9. you should go to berkeley! i did my undergrad there and w/ ucsf right now. berkeley is such an awesome city and the professors and students are really nice / relaxed while still working very hard. on another note...i saw that some people heard from USC already, what interview weekend did you attend?
  10. this is my first choice too, and i was at the 22-24 interview. i hope they are going to send more tomorrow!!
  11. Nada, i think it'll probably be by mid march too i don't like waiting haha
  12. Does anyone who interviewed at USC know when they plan to send final decisions? Congrats to you guys for NYU btw!!
  13. Thanks to those who answered my question about wardrobe Another question - Did anyone go to one of USC's interview weekends? What is the structure like?
  14. What have you guys who've interviewed been wearing to the events that go on during interview weekends? I plan to dress fairly formal for the interview and meeting professors, but what about meeting/going out with the current grad students / dinner and other events?
  15. Hi all, I asked a week or so ago but didn't get a reply. Was just wondering if anyone applied / heard from UPenn or University of Minnesota phd programs? Thanks!
  16. Anyone hear from UPENN (Behavioral and Cognitive Neuroscience area)? Or University of Minnesota (Biological Psychopathology area)? Not sure if they started sending out or not. Thanks!
  17. Not sure, but I imagine they interviewed a bit more than they could take. It looks like they sent out a big wave of rejections this time around. I haven't heard anything from them (reject or invite) so I'm not sure what that means.
  18. same question does anyone have any insight, maybe students from last year's cycle?
  19. Does anyone know typically how many people interviewed get accepted? I've heard that some programs accept most of the people they interview, and its mainly set up to gauge how the person is socially. Any insight?
  20. Yeah I'm wondering the same thing. I applied to the Neural Science Program but haven't heard anything regarding interview or rejection yet.
