  1. I was accepted as a "self-funded" (wasn't that the strangest acceptance letter you've ever received?) student, as well. Honestly, for me, that was an instant deal-breaker. There is absolutely no way that I could justify financing that MA, when other students would be enjoying a fully funded fellowship. It would almost feel as if I was paying for their stipend. I can't speak to the perception of the program in the art world, but I just thought I'd add my two cents. Luckily I was offered money at a few other programs, so I have some other options. Best of luck with your decision making process.
  2. Did anyone else get a rather cryptic message from Tufts today? Looking at the results from years past, it seems that they usually contact admitted students by phone. I wonder if this e-mail is a precursor to a rejection letter.
  3. I've been wondering about the same thing. I applied to 6 schools and I have only heard back from one thus far (Bard Graduate Center). It feels good to have at least one option, but waiting to hear from the other five is unbearable! I also applied to Syracuse and after looking at the archives, I am feeling even more nervous. It appears that in years past, people have heard a response by the end of February. However, it feels good to know that I'm not the only one waiting to hear back. Any other MA hopefuls out there?
  4. Congrats to the Bard admit. May I ask if you were a PhD or MA applicant?
  5. I am a recent graduate of a small LAC, who decided to take a gap year before applying to graduate school for the fall of 2010. I have worked in a gallery and interned in a small museum. With these experiences, I have decided that professionally, my main passion lies in the museum field. I am now trying to figure out what MA programs place the most emphasis on professional development, especially internship/fellowship placements. I really wish to achieve an MA in Art History, not in Museum Studies. Additionally, financial aid is an extremely important factor in my decision making process. I am considering schools in NYC, Boston, DC, California and Europe. I graduated with a 3.5, should receive decent recommendations, have written a thesis and have lectured at three collegiate symposiums. I have taken the GRES once, scoring a 610V and 580Q, but plan to take again in a few weeks. Any input would be extremely helpful! Thanks so much, in advance.
