  1. Last year's percentage was "slightly less than 18% of applicants." Make of that what you will. I'd guess it's just more applicants overall.
  2. @DubbleBubble Probably also look at GPA, GRE, prestige of undergrad institution, current grad institution, etc, etc I feel your pain, brah. All Es except one VG, all glowing reviews. Not even an HM. Oh well!
  3. E/E; E/VG; E/E No award, no HM
  4. Fastlane back up! #activity
  5. @stayingsong: Northwestern sent out PhD acceptances on the 13th.
  6. \o high five for B-list solidarity! Yeah - looks like Cornell, Stanford, and MIT all sent their first wave early this week. Eruthos: Yes, those schools sent emails. As to rejections, it seems like they're holding those back for a while, for the reasons starofdawn talked about. I'd guess that once visit weekends start happening and people accept offers (and decline others) there will probably be some reshuffling/new offers and then the rejection emails.
  7. Eruthos: My research interests are very similar. I've been admitted to UIUC (two weeks ago), UMich (a week ago), and Brown (a few days ago). Didn't apply to UVa, and still waiting to hear back from Northwestern. Also, you may want to check out Washington State. Their major emphasis is on shock physics and extreme conditions materials. Their deadline might be passed, though. Good luck!
  8. AWood316: Yep, that's the exact same email I got. I also got two correction emails, spaced one hour apart. They both said basically the same thing, and the second had a typo ("Messsage") in the subject line. So it certainly seems like they were scrambling that evening to put out fires. I think for sanity's sake it's best to consider this just a system error for everyone rather than some short list and move on.
  9. Some University of Illinois (Urbana) acceptances went out yesterday. Does anyone know more about the MIT error? Did all MIT-DMSE applicants receive the fluke acceptance email (I did)?
  10. Hi there! Just finished up applications. Applied to: MIT, Stanford, Illinois, Northwestern, Cornell, Michigan, Ohio State, Brown, Washington State, U Chicago IME. Interested in energy materials, nanomaterials, and materials at extreme conditions. Good luck to all!
