  1. After I read lalakey's last post, I decided to google the days of the week that decisions were released in past years. One year, decisions for Brazil were emailed on a Sunday (bizarre), but most other years were emailed out on a Monday. I wonder if IIE tends to stick to a certain day of the week for each country.
  2. ^ Best post ever.
  3. Thanks for the clarification, everyone! Whoooo (exhales sigh of relief). In other news, did anyone apply to a country with an academic year different from ours? For example, I applied to Brazil, and my grant wouldn't start until late February 2015, ending in November 2015. This makes it a little difficult when trying to plan long-term (i.e. what would I do after I graduate in April until February, deferring law school two years instead of one, etc.) Anyone else in the same boat?
  4. I never got this survey (checked my spam and alternate email address, too). Maybe this is a bad sign for me....
  5. I am getting very antsy. I am on Spring Break this week, home alone, and have nothing to do. I need to distract myself with Netflix to avoid checking my email and spam box every 5 seconds. Considering Brazil notified applicants on March 4th last year I can't stop thinking about Fulbright...
  6. I was recommended for an ETA in Brazil and haven't heard anything yet! I know that last year they were notified on March 4. I am also a finalist for the Princeton in Latin America fellowship, and they told me on Monday that things are running very slowly in Brazil right now due to Carnaval... So at best, I'm hoping Brazil people will hear back by the end of March. Ahhhhhh so many nerves, I want the wait to be over! Good luck to everyone!
  7. That's horrifying. I'm so sorry! Hopefully you will get a straight answer first thing tomorrow.
  8. Recommended as an ETA in Brazil! Bittersweet. Wishing more of my fellow waiters on this thread had been recommended. You guys are all awesome. I applied for the Pickering Fellowship last year and really got my hopes up, only to get cut after the first round. It sucked. There are many more opportunities. Go out into the world and kick some ass! We've all got it in us.
  9. Thank you so much, Tieloran! This reduces some anxiety! Good luck this year!!
  10. I will seriously go nuts if they hold off on sending my email out until 6, 6:30, 7, etc.... Does anyone know what the latest time emails get sent out is? I know they said "sometime after 5," but I really hope it's closer to 5 than closer to 8....
  11. I have class all afternoon in the same building as my FPA's office. It is taking every ounce of strength I have not to run upstairs and demand hints about my status. Gahhhhhhhhhh the wait is killing me, I can't stop shaking! Maybe I should skip my next class and go to the liquor store.
  12. From what I've noticed, many people that aren't as familiar with Fulbright as we are tend to call everyone who wins the award (students included) "Fulbright Scholars". It sounds better than saying "Fulbright Student." Lol. But yeah....Andrew isn't a Fulbright student yet!! Another round to go through. A means to an end. Good luck everyone!! I'm really rooting for you all, and even if I get bad news tonight I am excited for all of you and can't wait to troll this thread with anticipation of good news for fellows GradCafe-ers! You're all incredibly talented and passionate people or you wouldn't care so much. There is much more to look for, regardless of what happens today. Thanks for being so supportive - this has been a great place to vent/exchange ideas so far. GOOD LUCK!
  13. Guys...It's officially Tuesday, January 28th ET.
  14. Adding to our Fulbright playlist...
  15. I'm also applying to law school right now! I am more than likely taking a year off for some sort of program abroad, even if I don't get Fulbright. Although it's a comfort to have submitted all my applications, I still don't feel quite ready to settle down into academia again just yet (I'm a graduating senior right now).
  16. I love this! YESSSS.
  17. Thank you! Considering the amount of time I spend checking this threat, maybe I will change it to a different scene from Bridesmaids every day until we get a word from IIE.
  18. Literally what I'm doing right now. This wait is awful. Fulbrights for EVERYONE!
  19. I also applied for an ETA in Brazil! Hoping for good news for both of us soon!
  20. I applied to Princeton in Latin America and should also be hearing back this week or next...so the pressure is really on! I don't think I've ever refreshed my email so often before.
  21. Most grant periods for South American countries begin in March 2015, not March 2014 - the majority of Fulbright applicants won't even know the final status of their application by this March. You would have a full year to prepare...so no worries about potentially having to move in two months!
  22. I just creepily stopped into my FPA's office to "say hi" and casually asked about Fulbright (after emailing her last week). She said (again) that she hasn't heard anything and that we will have an answer by the end of the month. I think I need to give her some space before she calls Fulbright and asks them to lose my application.
  23. @ fiajoc, wow! That's fantastic, congratulations! At least that's a sign that all decisions regarding finalist status have been made and forwarded to the respective countries. It's kind of ridiculous that Finland has contacted you before Fulbright has contacted applicants...and that they've only given you two days to complete the form. Whyyyyy Fulbright, whyyyyy keep us waiting?!?
  24. It really sucks being a senior and not knowing what I'm going to do with my life after graduation. Law school apps are in, I'm also applying to another fellowship abroad, and I feel like I'm playing the waiting game all semester long. Enough already!
  25. This also happened to Brazil (ETA) last year. Fulbright asked applicants who were rejected from Colombia if they would accept an ETA grant to Brazil instead.
