  1. I still haven't heard either! And I have had no luck getting in touch with anyone. Did the timeline they give you even involve being notified before April 15? This is ridiculous. Anyone else have any information or commiseration?
  2. has everyone been notified by Columbia? I am feeling annoyed at it being after 5 in NY on a Friday and no word for me. I know it will be a rejection, but I just want closure! anyone else still waiting?
  3. I am interested in pursuing a master's degree in sociocultural anthropology to strengthen my application to doctoral programs. (I had very high grades from a top tier research university for my B.A. but I am switching disciplines and my previous research and fieldwork was diverse and does not relate to my current interests.) I have a fair amount of undergraduate debt and will have no family support, so it is essential that funding is available. Is anyone familiar with any funded M.A. programs in anthropology (or very closely related programs that allow you to specialize in anthro)? I know there is one at UT-Austin, that Stanford and Columbia have unfunded programs, and I am familiar with MAPSS at UChicago. I'd love to hear any experiences or insights that anyone has. I would also be curious to hear about fellowships or other special programs that would help one strengthen an application (I am 25 now so I am too old for a few of the major ones). I live in the U.S. but I would be willing to go to any other country that is willing to fund Americans. Can't wait to hear what you all have to say!
  4. Congratulations! May I ask how you were notified?
  5. So, I'm wondering if anyone might have some insight about my situation. I am waitlisted for the U of C Anthropology doctoral program, but I know there's only a tiny chance of that working out. I would be delighted to enroll in MAPSS instead if I was offered a full tuition waiver as some of you referred candidates have been. However, since I may literally not know for sure about the PhD waitlist until April 15, I am worried that all of the decisions/spots/funding for MAPSS may already be figured out and I would not have that opportunity. I also know that the MAPSS spot and funding is offered, not asked for, since I didn't apply directly to the program. Anyone have any idea what my chances could be, or should I just give up hope on the possibility now? Thanks!
  6. Who has heard what? To the wait-listed person, were you under the impression everyone had been notified? I am assuming it's over at this point, but just wanted to see if anyone has any more information...
  7. I saw that a BioAnth candidate posted an admissions decision via website for UT-Austin. Did you receive an email or was this on the main UT Application Status Check page? Has anyone else heard anything besides those who have already received informal notifications? Thanks and good luck!
  8. If it helps anyone who is still wondering about Duke cultural anthro, I called Holly Francis today, and she asked for my name and then told me it wasn't on the list. She said there were 21 'finalists' on the list but I didn't press for more details. She basically conveyed the impression that by not being on 'the list' I was completely out of the running. I can't speak to whether those people who are on the list all received a bulk notification e-mail or not. Basically, if anyone is still agonizing, I would recommend calling her and just asking. Although painful, it was worth it for me personally to just be able to try to put it out of my mind and move on. Congrats to those who have interviews and best of luck to everyone!
  9. I'll chime in that I'm dying to know about the Duke and University of Texas-Austin postings on the results page, if anyone would like to provide more details.
