  1. Not recommended for ETA-Korea... Oh well, EPIK program HERE I COME! Sincere congratulations to all of you recommended... and heartfelt empathy with those in the same boat as me. Thank you all so much for this forum and I wish you all the best of luck.
  2. Does anyone know what the subject of the email from Fulbright has been in the past few years? Is it a different subject title for people who got recommended versus not?
  3. Betty-Jo may be 90 years-old, but she's no fool... She'll see right through my facade and throw anointing oil at me. BAHAHAHAHA!
  4. Well, I live in the Bible belt in a neighborhood surrounded by people who all know my parents... I can hear my mother now... "Betty-Jo called me today and said you came over and asked if she had a gallon of bourbon on hand... Are you an alcoholic? Do I need to call the pastor? Or a help hotline? What's that AA prayer again?... the one about God granting you the serenity to... um... deal with bad stuff... and... things you can't change... and... I don't know! I'm calling your father!" ......... I might have a bottle of cooking sherry somewhere in the back of the fridge...
  5. I'm now snowed in with no access to alcohol of any kind - whether it would be for mourning or celebration, I'll know in a few hours... I clearly did not think this through when I was at the grocery store yesterday. WHY HASN'T AMAZON.COM FIGURED OUT THIS WHOLE DRONE DELIVERY THING YET?! I think since Fulbright is a government program, they should have their own drones to drop booze at every applicant's doorstep on decision day. Tax money well spent... Just sayin'. Sending lots of love and luck to everyone today...
  6. Two people had posted that their FPA's told them we'd hear on Tuesday after 5, I think.
  7. BAHAHAHA! I love how everyone is quick to snuff out potential trolls. I friggin' love this community!!!!!
  8. Sweet baby Moses!!! This waiting is just cruel. Surely they know the results by now?!
  9. I would say your speculation makes sense. I know they had to have gotten some complaints last year when Smith College published the names of "recommendees" on their website before applicants were even notified. Not telling the FPA's in advance would save them some grief, I'm sure.
  10. North Korean studies? How fascinating! I know the research grant statistics to SK were around 50/50, but I guess getting your masters would be in a different category. Is your program taught in English or do you speak Korean? Good luck to you!
  11. ETA to South Korea here! Where/what subject are you wanting to study?
  12. Also, I would think that giving the decision on a Friday would give people a chance to cool down over the weekend... I would say if they sent out recommendations on a Monday-Thursday, they'd be having to answer a high volume of phone calls and inquiries the very next day like, "I heard someone got their email decision and I didn't get mine. Did you all lose my email address?" <-- I'm sure that's a popular question.
  13. My friends are threatening to forcibly remove my phone and computer from my possession so I can't check my email until February 1st.... MUST. NOT. LET. THEM. TAKE. AWAY. MY. PRECIOUS!!!!!
  14. I wish I had known about this when I was visiting my sister in Korea last year... No Netflix, no HBOgo, and even some Youtube videos were restricted because of IP. DANGIT!
  15. Perhaps the government shutdown is to blame? I would ask my FPA, but she was so clueless as to what to do that I was forced to apply at-large. Anyone else have a good relationship with their FPA?
