  2. My Second essay on extra circular activities : Dear Admissions Committee, Ever since my school and till the college, I have participated in many volunteer work, clubs, sports and other activities. Yet the most influential activity for me was my volunteer work with a charity organization in Cairo named “Al Resalla”.I used to teach young students who usually work after school to support their families financially. I volunteer to teach them subjects that weren’t easy for them to comprehend that are mathematics and English. The fact the reason for doing so is not only help them study their subjects but also to do my best to make them fully aware that they should grow up to be accountable and successful contributors to their society. The impact of this work on me is priceless and it makes me fully appreciate how much I was blessed to grow up as a well-educated person and to appreciate the dedication of my family to be who I am today. My work with the organization also includes working on raising funds for the organization; that gives the money to either the people who are unable to get proper medical treatment; due to the high poverty rates in Egypt and the high cost of medical treatments or it gives the money for the Syrian refugees in Egypt who hardly have food and shelter, I volunteer to help the people who faces catastrophic circumstances as it gives me relief and internal peace and mainly because I believe in karma. In addition to my volunteer work I am always interested in interacting with new people with diversified nationalities and backgrounds, so during my college years, I participated for three years in the Model of American Congress (MAC) which simulates the real American Congress and it gives a the students the chance to negotiate various international political and economic topics. The model was divided into sub-committees and each committee included almost fifteen members and each committee discusses various topics chosen by their four instructors. After assimilating myself in the model for two years, I was elected to act as an instructor of the committee along with other three instructors. My work as an instructor required from me to work with my team on distributing the functions of each member in the committee, organize the weekly sessions and choose the weekly topics. Over my participation period of three years, I got the chance to meet students from various backgrounds either Egyptian or multinational students studying in Egypt. The experience was intense that cultivated my interest in politics and my communication, interactional and team management skills. I also learning how to communicate and express the premises for a certain topic in a concise simple way. Finally I want to talk about the most favorable activity for me that is the photography. I have always been fond of the taking photos for new places and new people that I meet to keep their memories. My passion for photography comes from my father, who also have a high passion for photography and during a certain period of his professional career he worked as photographer for a newspaper. Due to my passion I joined Cairo Photography Club that is one of the biggest clubs for amateur photographers in Cairo. I have been a member for more than four years and during these period I travelled many places within Egypt to have photos shots for historic places and natural scenes.
  3. Hello All, I need someone to review my motivation letter, my English writing skills isn't that strong and I need edition on the Grammar of the essay, if it all make sense !! They are two essays the first is motivation letter and the second is essay on my extra circular activities. The first essay Dear Admissions Committee, I am writing to express my interest in joining the MBA - International Management Program at XX. My catalyst to apply for the program is to gain a deepened study in the business administration field that would help me fulfill my future plans to grow the family owned business that I am currently running along with my father and to learn how to make savvy decisions. The concrete and solid academic curriculum of the program along with its international accreditation made me determined to work on myself more to be able to join the program. My graduation from Cairo University with a Bachelor degree in statistics has given a strong foundation to my analytical skills and improved my problem-solving ability. After my graduation, my professional career started with XX as a Junior Statistician; responsible of performing statistical and data quality checks for the clients in the retail market. Due to my strong endeavors and team support that I showed in my first year, I applied for a vacancy in the consumer research department as a Senior Executive. The tasks of the new position required a greater effort and harder work. The job responsibilities included performing statistical data analysis and also managerial tasks such as supervising with my manager both the teams of data entry, coders and interviewer, and handling the financial advisory work of the department through working with my team on achieving the targeted profit of the department and successfully it exceeded the required target by almost 20 thousand dollars. My experience with XX not only strengthened my analytical and quantitative skills, but also strengthened my ability to manage multiple teams efficiently, organize and distribute the work functions in a precise and accurate way and how to communicate the solutions and resolutions in a smooth, concise way. After a careful thought, I decided to join XX, an advertising agency that is a family owned business that was founded by my father twenty years ago, for two main reasons first to invest my skills and experience I gained previously in developing the company and second to gain a broader understanding of the market and the client management area. At the beginning of my work, I decided to develop the work flow by creating an organized work process and organized the employees’ hierarchy. And in the client management area, after two years working with the company, I was able to create a strong client relationship and introduced new clients to the company. Moreover, I worked on finding unique methods of advertising and promoting the products of the clients that some of these ideas required to cross the boarders and to cooperate with advertising agencies in other countries such as China and Lithuania. The two years’ experience with XX was intense and it gave me a chance to develop diversified professional skills including negotiation and presentation skills and also developing my sense of creativity and imagination. Taking into consideration my interests and plans, graduate business school is the next logical step. At this point in my life, I consider the MBA to be necessary since I need to gain a broader understanding of business management in order to develop and expand the family business. After the MBA program I will start my plan on expanding the services provided by the company. Finally, I believe that I possess the capability to perform well in the program and hope that the university will grant me a chance to join it.
  4. Me too using the GRE for admission and many schools accepted it
  5. The deadline for submitting the SOP is tomorrow... I need some reviews on my SOP. As am not a native speaker of english. thanks Dear Admissions Committee, Ever since my childhood, me and my sister always competed on our mathematical acumen by solving intricate mathematical calculations mentally without using the calculator. Both of us were enthusiastic on demonstrating our mathematical acumen and were enjoying the triumph of solving complicated problems. Later on, that passion for mathematics was reflected on my courses selection during high-school; as I preferred to continue my studies in mathematics; rather than science or literature. Not only during my high school studies did I select to study mathematical courses, but also during my undergraduate studies, in the Faculty of Economics and Political Science – Cairo University. Statistics was my major for the Bachelor degree rather than Political Science or Economics. My decision was bolstered with my quantitative aptitude and skills, believing that such profound analytical numerical program will cultivate and develop these skills and fulfill my interest of becoming a data analyst after graduating. During my undergraduate studies, I took courses which helped me learn about sampling processes, time series analysis, and multivariate analysis. I also undertook an academic course on the practical application of SPSS program using various data sizes, carrying out various types of analysis including regression analysis, factor analysis, and graphical representations. In addition to these, I had a series of courses in Economics that gave me a great opportunity to analyze different types of data-sets. In my fourth year, I worked on a graduation project titled “People’s attitudes and Behaviors towards different types of Advertisements”. A sample of both students and employees was selected to measure the attitudes of various segments of people towards advertisements and afterwards used factorial analysis on the final data to measure the most significant factors that affect people’s attitudes towards advertisements. During the project, I was exposed to a broad range of research experience; as I worked on setting the most appropriate tools to conduct the research. After my graduation, I received an internship for 4 months in the Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) – Public Opinion Center; which only accepted graduates with high potential. My tasks were circumscribed around assisting researchers in carrying out studies about the Egyptian’s perception towards the main political, economic, or social issues facing the society at that time. The experience was concrete and introduced me to the tangible practice of research. Afterwards I joined XXX for two years as a Data analyst, working in both the Retail Measurement and Consumer Research departments. My main tasks included the development of various types of questionnaires, such as customer satisfaction and retail measurement, and performing a thorough data analysis on the final results. Working with The Nielsen Company enabled me to gain a deep understanding of survey methodologies, sampling processes, and data interpretation. However, due to the delegation of most of the data processing tasks to XXX in India, I decided to shift to a Marketing oriented career, believing that it would enhance my career opportunities. Almost two years ago, I joined XXX that is specialized in conducting marketing campaigns for the clients. My tasks involves developing and executing marketing campaigns for the clients. I was attracted to work on tasks that will develop my skills in presentation, negotiation and leadership. However after two years the role still did not fully interest me as research used to do. Marketing didn’t share the same passion that I have for the research field, and now after two years of experience in both market research and marketing field; I am more determined to continue my career in the research field. Although the career path in the marketing field is much easier and smoother in my country, yet I don’t want to lose the path and diverge from the career that I always strived for. I believe that obtaining a master’s degree will provide me with wider scope on the survey methodology technicalities and give me a chance to increase my quantitative analytical skills and statistical programming knowledge to be a more qualified and proficient analyst. As I plan on continuing my career as a researcher, after obtaining my master’s degree. Moreover I plan on obtaining the PhD degree in the same field; believing that afterwards, I could work on developing the surveying field in my country, as it needs more attention, especially in the governmental research centers. The governmental research centers in Egypt needs to play a more viable role in decision making process and that’s the area that I plan to assist on developing in the coming future. I believe I need a concrete academic program that will provide me with the needed training and study to be a full-fledged researcher. The Survey Research and Methodology program at University XXX provides a solid combination of both practical and academic learnings of the surveying process. I was motivated to apply for the program because of the concrete academic curriculum and the practical training on surveying research process through both the internship and practicum. Moreover an additional appealing opportunity offered by the program that motivated me to apply for the program; is the Gallup fellowship that gives a chance for the graduates to apply for joining one of the advanced research centers worldwide; an opportunity that many analysts would seek to boast their career and experience. Finally, I believe that I possess the capability to perform well in the program and hope that the university will grant me a chance to join it.
