Mine still says "complete ready for review". Here's what I actually received in the personal email in response to my query: "The faculty in the Department of Painting + Printmaking met last week to determine an interview short-list; unfortunately your application was not among those selected. As you likely know, this is an extremely competitive process, given that we can accept only 9 students from almost 200 applicants."
Rejected from VCU's painting program as of tonight. From the email, it sounds like the department notified all interviewees last week, and if you haven't heard already from them, you weren't shortlisted.
Anyone? I'm a late '20s year old parent of two youngsters. I finished my undergrad with the two of them as well (one born right before finals) as the top graduate in my program, while my husband was also a PhD student, so I know a lot of the challenges involved. BUT, I'm unsure of the specific difficulties inherent to the structure of an MFA and being a parent at the same time. Any advice would be great.
Oh, Lord, now the wait. Applied to MFA painting programs at WVU, GWU, VCU, Penn State, and UMD. Needed places with good funding and that were within a certain geographical distance... that definitely limited my options!
