Hi Ruth, Sorry to respond so late. I haven't logged into this site in a while. Right now...I'm actually working on the "Images of Movies" series that you saw on my website. I'm thinking of narrowing down the focus to moments in film after a specific event, such as a character dying. I'd like to maybe say something about how we learn how to respond to certain situations based on how fictional characters in movies do...I'm still brainstorming but thank you so much to looking and giving me feedback! -Michelle

I know how you feel. I'm probably going to decline my offers to UMD and SVA because they aren't giving me shit. Good news to anyone wait listed at those schools.

I got an email today from SVA...I got accepted into their MFA Fine Arts program!

I haven't heard anything from UCLA, unfortunately.

I emailed Penelope Jones from USC and she said that if you haven’t been contacted you can assume you did not make the cut.

I took your advice and reached out. This was the response that I received from Carol: "Thank you for your inquiry about your application status. Your are correct, we have denied admission to some of our applicants, and we have also offered admission to some. We are still in the process of hearing back from our admitted applicants. Although you are not on our wait list, your application was strong enough to not deny you. If you have an attractive offer from another school, it might be advisable to take it. I hope this helps you in your decisions. Please let me know if you have any further questions." I was a little confused...it appears as if I'm in limbo? I'll take it as a rejection.

I'm sorry to hear that you were rejected from UCSB. I hope you don't mind me asking when and how you heard?

I noticed that a couple of people have heard back from UCSB...I saw one acceptance and one rejection. Can anyone elaborate on when/how they heard back? I haven't heard anything from any of the California schools that I applied to...

So I had my interview with SVA this morning. It was with Mark Tribe, the chair of the MFA Fine Arts department. I think it went really well...it felt like I was having a conversation with a good friend. He asked questions about my work and my motivations for pursuing graduate school. I should hear back by April 1st! I also got accepted to the University of Maryland, College Park, via email today for their Mixed Media/New Genres program.

Thank you! The actual program I applied to is a bit broad...Fine Arts. It's an interdisciplinary studio program.

For any of you SVA (MFA Fine Art) applicants out there...I just got an email requesting a Skype interview for Monday, February 24th!

I don't think that's crazy. There are people out there who have applied to more than 12 schools. Although it can be costly to apply to so many, it leaves you with more options. I only applied to 5 but I took a lot of factors into consideration. There's no right answer...as long as you can see yourself being happy and successful at each of the schools that you are applying to then I think you're making a smart decision.

What types of questions should people expect from a phone interview?
