  1. Confirmation: yes, it appears when changes are made, the same name is removed from HM and added to Fellows. Just observed it happening again, where "Wooden, Isaiah Matthew" was removed from HM and added as a Dissertation Fellow. *edit* well looks like you beat me to the punch there! */edit*
  2. Unsure, I didn't save a copy of the HM list for comparison. It's harder to keep track of that many names
  3. Dissertation Fellows list just added one (up to 17) and lost one HM (down to 253). The suspense is killing me!
  4. The plot thickens! If you noticed in my original post, the header says 38 and there are 2 fewer names listed- that means the list is being actively updated right now! Something tells me I will be refreshing this link obsessively until predoc is up to 60... *edit* Well, shit. I just tried the same trick on the Honorable Mentions list and saw both me and my labmate are on there :-/. I'm hoping they made that list first then are scrutinizing it more closely and upgrading to Fellows accordingly, as I didn't get email notification yet of HM. Good luck to all either way! http://nrc58.nas.edu/FordFellows20/ExtRpts/PressReleaseRoster.aspx?RptMode=HM&CompYr=2014 As of now there are 438 HM predocs and 254 HM dissertation. */edit*
  5. ROFL WOW! ... So I went to the Ford Fellowship webpage and clicked on the link for the 2013 roster (2014 isn't "there" yet). On a whim, I changed "2013" to "2014" in the URL. APPARENTLY they have a partial list already up!! Can someone confirm I'm not hallucinating? So far they have 19/60 predoc and *edited, sorry* 15/36 dissertation posted, and 4/24 post-doc posted */edit*. I'll post below in case they take it down haha! http://nrc58.nas.edu/FordFellows20/ExtRpts/PressReleaseRoster.aspx?RptMode=AW&CompYr=2014&Layout=wwwLibs%2fUtil_Web%2fPageLayouts%2fApplPrintLayout Press Release Ford Foundation Fellowships Scholar Award List - 2014 The following 38 outstanding scholars have been awarded fellowships in the 2014 Ford Foundation Fellowship Programs competition administered by the National Research Council of the National Academies. 6. Hi everyone, I'd like to nip this rumor in the bud -- I am an ACTUAL grad student at Scripps CA, on the grad student committee no less, and I would like to respond to this by assuring you that we are recruiting no differently than we have in previous years (i.e. the vast majority of interviewees accepted). The above post contains factual flaws, such as a mysterious budget shortfall magically appearing within the last 2 weeks and the approximation of stipends -- I can tell you that the stipend at Scripps CA is $30k this year (we just got a bump up 1k! woooo). Additionally, it doesn't make any sense to fly out so many students (think 120 students @ ~$500 each for flights to Scripps CA alone, I can't speak for how many visit Florida because I don't go there!) and put them up in hotels just to later reject them. I hope this clears things up! If anyone has any lingering doubt, feel free to contact me directly. My name is Ruben, and I don't need to hide behind the anonymity of a psuedonym, and my picture and email address is publicly available on my group webpage (the Shenvi lab) here: http://www.scripps.edu/shenvi/Members.html -Ruben
