  1. Icelestical, thanks for asking. I was wait listed at BU. Pretty disappointed, as it was/is my top choice. I'm hesitant to tell applicants to put a deposit down at schools while they're waiting to hear from other programs, because it keeps people on the wait list from getting in, but I understand why people would do so. I got into Smith, and am supposed to hear from Simmons this week. I have to let Smith know by the end of this week, but I think I am leaning toward Simmons. I want to stay in the city. If I were to be admitted to BU later on, I would attend BU. Good luck to everyone! Everyone is going to end up in a great program with a career that they love. Remember that!
  2. My experience with schools is that they are not really able or willing to do anything. They are all on their own timetable, and you are somewhat aware of this when you apply. It's all part of the process. You can certainly call them (I think a call is more effective than email) and tell them you've been admitted to BU but you're still very much interested in BC). My guess is that they're going to give you an estimate of when you'll find out but not be able to expedite the process. Good luck!
  3. Thanks for the update (and for calling the admissions office). This whole process is a little confusing, and I wasn't aware that BU handled decisions this way. I wish they had made that more clear. I also applied to Simmons and Smith. I was accepted to Smith early admission, and have to make a decision in a couple of weeks. The timing isn't working out favorably, but in the end I'll end up where I end up. All good schools. I'm just really excited about BU's program and department. As for having an equal chance as the March 3rd pool, I have no idea. That's why this seems different from a wait list and their language is very confusing. It seems a wait list would give us a leg up, but if we're considered with the March 3rd pool as equals, it seems we're back to square 1. Oy. Best of luck to you!
  4. Wondering the same thing. I don't think it's the same thing as "wait list." I believe it's more that our applications have been moved to the pool with the regular deadline applications and will be reviewed among those applications. I'm disappointed as well, as BU is my top choice. Also wondering my chance of admission and wondering if it's worth contacting them.
  5. Hi, casualrunnergal. Did you interview? It probably wouldn't hurt if you have a contact person at the school to follow up with. Did you receive notice via letter? I was hoping to hear today too but just checked the mail and it wasn't in there. The anticipation is horrible! I hope everything works out for you! My top choice is BU.
  6. I also like to pay attention to specialization/certification offerings. I was really drawn to BU's dual MSW/EdM program, with a specialization in special ed. I also enrolled in a SW class at BU last semester as a non-matriculating student to see how I liked it and to get a taste of balancing work and school. It was a really great experience. My friend went to Simmons a couple of years ago, so I was able to attend a couple of classes with him, which also offered a lot of insight into their program. Hope that helps!
  7. Hi there. Do you know about the dual MSW/EdM program? http://www.bu.edu/academics/ssw/programs/dual-degree-program-in-social-work-and-education/ I imagine you'd be able to take classes in the school of education while enrolled in the BUSSW if you're just interested in taking a few classes. The thing I really like about BU's program is their collaboration between schools and fields. I applied for admission next fall. If I were to be admitted, I will apply to the School of Ed. at the end of my first semester at the SSW. Good luck to everyone! Let me know if/when you hear anything.
