  1. Ewa Lajer Burcharth at Harvard advises mostly 18th.
  2. Mary Sheriff at UNC, Sarah Betzer at Virginia, and Todd Cronon at Emory are also very interesting scholars. At Chicago, there's not only Marty Ward, who's a dream, but also Anne Leonard, Richard Neer (who dabbles in French classicism), Tom Gunning and Jennifer Wild in the CMS dept with an interest in 19th century France. At Harvard, there's Ewa and also Maria Gough.
  3. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but it seems like such is the exception, not the rule. My understanding is that faculty can reach out if they're so inclined but the standard means of communication comes from the committee.
  4. historiography, primarily, but also 19th c. european.
  5. Got a call from Berkeley. They've made first round cuts.
