  1. Does anyone have any info about Emory? I see three acceptances and one rejection on the board, but I haven't heard anything myself! I didn't feel good about my interview so I'm expecting a rejection, but don't know what it means if people who've been accepted and people who've been rejected have both heard back!

  2. This is helpful, but I'll probably still be checking my phone all day tomorrow, regardless.  The thought of another weekend without having heard back from anywhere is kind of a bummer.  What else is likely next week?  By my count it looks like UT-Austin, Emory, Northwestern, and Stanford are all possibilities (and Michigan).

Had an Emory interview Tuesday and they promised news within a week.

  3. Congratulations to all the Berkeley admits! For those willing to share, what's your background like ? (GPA, GREs, publications, etc.). I applied knowing it was rather unlikely I'd be accepted with good but not great GREs and no publications despite a great undergrad GPA.

I'm trying to decide whether to accept offers other programs that (hopefully) extend or try for my dream school again next year. I was just curious how much I would need to bolster my credentials if I decided to give it another go.

Thanks to anyone willing to share! And congratulations again!

  4. Question for all those who've had interviews already, what should I expect from my Skype interview with Emory tomorrow?

For example, what kind of questions will they ask (mostly research interest questions? Questions about my honors thesis or other academic achievements? Etc.)?

How familiar should I be with the interviewer's work if they aren't in my field?

What kind of questions about the program do they generally expect? (Do people mostly inquire about funding or is there other insightful questions into the program that I should consider?)

Will they ask about other programs to which I've applied? How do you handle any questions hinting at how your rank their program to others?

Any other advice is gratefully received! This is my first graduate school interview, so the more insight you all have the better.

    Thank you!

  5. Congrats to the Duke, UCSD and Michigan State admits!

Congrats on Colorado - Boulder and making it through to an interview at Emory! No, you should not assume that you have been rejected from UNC if you haven't heard back from them yet. They've only sent out one decision in Political Science, seemingly - and if you look at the whole spreadsheet, not just the Political science results, they've been sending out decisions to only one person in a lot of programs (Religious Studies, History, Computer Science, Education, Chemistry, etc.). Probably their main results won't be for another couple weeks - last year their wave was around February 12.

Thank you! Unfortunately just received a rejection email from Madison though. :(

  6. Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and have just skimmed through quite a few pages... Am I correct to assume that I have been rejected from Wisconsin and UNC if I haven't heard back from them yet? I'm out of the country, so I have a difficult time checking my application status.

I am happy to admit, however, that I have made it to Emory's final admissions pool and have an interview with them Thursday. I've also received am offer from CU Boulder (my alma mater).
