  1. I received that last year and ended up getting a denial in the end. Good luck to you. Hope I get the SMART now.
  2. Denied again this year. Just received word. Dear 2015 NDSEG Applicant, Thank you for your interest in the National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowship Program. The selection process was very thorough and your application was reviewed by many experts in your discipline. Unfortunately, your application was not selected for an award during the 2015 application evaluation process. NDSEG is very competitive and there were many more qualified applicants than could be funded. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide any feedback on your application, but please feel free to contact us if you have any other questions. We wish you well in your academic endeavors and thank you again for your interest in the NDSEG Fellowship Program. Sincerely, The NDSEG Program Team at ASEE
  3. Anyone have an idea when awards will be announced? I applied last year and we were in limbo for a while.
  4. I emailed the NDSEG today and received the following. I have also given up any hope. Thank you for your message. Applications are still being considered for awards, and we are awaiting further instruction from the DoD. Please note that we have begun the award process; however, not all awards have been issued yet. Unfortunately, the Department of Defense has not yet given us a timeline as to when the remaining awarded applicants will be announced. We appreciate your patience and understanding. Please let us know if you have any questions. Thank you, The NDSEG Program Team at ASEE 1818 N Street NW, Suite 600 Washington, DC 20036 Phone: (202) 649-3831 Fax: (202) 265-8504
  5. How do you determine if you're on a waitlist? I only received the 'still in consideration' email earlier this week.
  6. Nothing today. It seems to be based on academic field. I applied to the Aero/Astro engineering discipline. Anyone else also apply there?
  7. Thanks for the check Alikat380. That clears things up considerably.
  8. I applying to Aerospace and hope I hear something. I'm starting to believe the earlier idea that the previous email is for those on waitlist.
  9. I also got the 'still being considered for an award' email. Congratulations mcknoche, hopefully they'll release all the names soon!
  10. No thanks required. I'm not involved in combat or anything so I sometimes feel awkward when people thank me. But I do appreciate it. Hopefully everyone gets some good news this week.
  11. Anyone here have an idea about the number of awards and chances? My only hope is that being in the military is a benefit.
  12. I also applied to UT Austin for a PhD in Aerospace. I was instead offered a coursework only masters with no funding, even though I already have a MS from Purdue. I was notified via email March 17.
  13. I recieved a Stanford PhD decision 20 Mar.
  14. Thank you very much. I hope I'll hear from other schools soon as well. Any idea how funding works? There's no way I can do this degree without some kind of scholarship.
  15. I'm still waiting on most of those schools as well for a PhD in Aerospace. I heard from Washington University in St. Louis this week so hopefully others will follow soon.
  16. Very little word for me. it seems like most Astro departments take a lot longer.
  17. Yup GWU for PhD MAE I hope what she told me is correct. It seems like such a long wait for most schools.
  18. That's pretty weird, wonder why they use a text message rather than some other method.
  19. I'm applying for Fall 2014 Aero/Astro at a number of schools. The only word from any school has been GWU with a phone call this morning asking if I had any 'application' questions. I asked the caller about when the decisions will be released and she mentioned that GW will be sending out decisions today and next week as well.
  20. Anyone here applying for a Stanford Aero/Astro PhD? I've already earned a MS and am applying to start Fall 2014. I have not heard any updates from Stanford since December and was wondering if anyone else has any insight? Thanks
  21. We're also in the same boat. My wife is applying to a JD while I'm applying for a Mech/Aerospace PhD. We've both applied to about 10 schools and I'm now waiting to hear from schools. My wife has already received decisons from about 7/10 schools and it's quite a pain to have to wait until March to get a decision. Most of the possibilities are the same school so that will be good for us and minimize long commutes.
  22. My application has been complete since December. I did ask some questions such as picking an advisor etc. They also let me know that decisions should be sent out for George Washington either today or next week. Hopefully they'll start sending out letters/emails to others as well.
  23. I'm applying to several schools for a PhD in Mechanical/Aerospace engineering. This morning I received a phone call from the graduate school of engineering asking if I had any questions about the application process etc. I was wondering if anyone had any clue as to whether this is a precursor to an application decision? It seems for this field that their is not much information and a long wait between finishing the application and hearing word. Thank you.
