Also agree on the Umich rankings, most programs i talked to put it higher than US news ranking, their faculty as well is impressive.
-
Why do you say that
-
have you been accepted yet, if not i dont think itll look good
-
i wonder what that means, they did do two rounds last year but it started a lot earlier
-
looks like Uchicago started i didnt get anything from them yet though

Math GRE Subject Test Preparation
StatPhD2014 replied to UsernameWasTaken's topic in Mathematics and Statistics
mathematicsgre.com is a good place for tips regarding the mathgre subject test -
hopefully today is the day uchicago releases results
-
Just say you decided to accept another offer, no one will be offended
-
is this true for stats as well or for only biostats
-
given their deadline was dec15th, i think they sent out their acceptances already they probably maintain an informal waitlist if a large number of people decline their offers
-
Yeah not even the meat matters much anyway (see CW's sticky)
-
just got a rejection from wharton
-
Looks like it is happening now
-
Anyone know what Uchicago is upto
-
how did you find out about upenn
-
They probably have an informal waitlist, which they might go to if a lot of people decline their initial offers. However as someone posted before, the DGS commented that they don't expect to admit anymore students. So the chances of them going to this informal waitlist is slim
-
Best way is just to ask your professors at your undergrad institution or graduate institution (especially if it has a top stat department) what admissions committees are looking for.
-
There is another Berkeley admit up it looks like they gave out their admits yesterday. To the person who contacted the department, did they say they were sending acceptances next week or decisions next week.
-
In statistics i thought this was usually the case. Although in other fields such as economics many of the top programs such as Upenn and CHicago routinely admit people without funding. On another note i really am starting to wonder what Wharton is upto.
-
When did you hear from them I didn't get an email from them yet
-
Some of the top schools do it in a stagerred format for whatever reason. Chicago last year sent out its admissions over a two week period
-
They did do several rounds of admissions last year it seems though. On another note, Im wondering what is happening with Wharton, it could be possible that they sent out their acceptances already, since it is a small program no one here could have updated the results page

Were these classes you took at a non-degree student also at the same ivy-league institution? If not what kind of school was it. What kind of school did you go for your masters? Were the classes you took part of the first year core PhD sequence ?
