Hey Friends

I have applied for the Phd program in EECS department in December they still haven't made any decision on my application. I would like to know whether any one of you is also facing the same issue?

Do think there is any chance of an admit after a long wait?

I also called them up and was told that it would be 2-3 weeks before I get my result. I also asked her if they would inform me before april 15 and she said : "not necessary".

PS: I have called her twice and both the times, she seemed to be in a hurry to end the conversation!

What do you think guys, how likely one can get an admit in the month of April? The result search showed admit to be a very "rare event" but result search alone cannot be trusted.

Got an email from UCSD saying that they were missing my transcripts:(. They should have told me this way before. All this inspite of bugging them for the status of my application from December. Now I am not sure my application will even undergo any review since already a few decisions have already been made.

This is very annoying indeed

I wonder what is happening to my application. I will also bug them for my status.

Any ideas as when Harvard finally give out results. I saw very few admits in the result section but I am sure that many people out there have applied.

To those who have already got admits, did profs contacted you before handing you the admit?

At MIT to "Area 3" (Electronics, Computers, and Systems), but more specifically I'm interested in analog circuits and mixed signal.

Can you share your profile please. Just curious to know what is required to get an admit from MIT.

I got an email from a prof at Stanford saying he had strongly recommended that the admissions committee admit and fund me...is this an unofficial acceptance?

What is the track you applied for at Stanford?

[UC Berkeley EECS (Fall 2010)]

I have observed that students from my school are accepted to Berkeley every alternate year, more or less. Can't say that it is by design or not. Last year, they rejected a friend of mine who is now in MIT. They admitted one guy the year before and one a couple of years before that. Go figure! I guess then that the competition's so intense that they are perhaps resorting to non-academic factors in making the final decisions (you may also read this as a conspiracy theory from someone who's desperately awaiting his decisions )

Anyway, I'm applying in the Physical Electronics track. Waiting and watching...a lot of gradcafe results posts :-SS

Forgot to add - Someone from my school got an admit to Berkeley yesterday. I guess they've filled their quota for this year then ;-)

I was searching through the last year's admission trends, it looks like we are in a month when results starts to trickle in. Already there was a poster that some one was contacted by UCB prof and then an admit!

Hello Friends

I have applied to UCLA EE Dept and have recently received an email from the admission office saying that admission decisions are expected to be released at the end-of-February to the middle-of-March.

Mail also gave links of possible sources of funding that one may wish to apply.

After reading this mail I was wondering, are they preparing me for a rejection and telling me that if you can get money form one of these sources then only we will read your application.

Has anyone out there got a similar mail?

What is the role of Student Admission Committee for selecting candidates for PhD admission? Do they make decision first throw away junk application and give the rest to professors or it is the other way?
