  1. I've gotten into several programs in ECE (electrical and computer engineering) for PhD beginning Fall 2010 and am wondering where I should go. With funding: Carnegie Mellon (CMU) Cornell Georgia Tech University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) Without funding or not yet known: Purdue Texas Wisconsin I'm leaning towards CMU or Cornell since CMU apparently has the best program in Computing/CompSci/Engineering in the country (http://pages.cs.wisc.edu/~remzi/rank.html) and I would be working in that kind of a lab despite the nominal ECE title. Plus, I have free tuition and stipend there. Thanks for you advice!
  2. Hi Ron, Would you mind if I ask what your GRE scores and GPA are? As far as the website for TCOM goes, it seems like it's an interesting program. I think a lot of these programs are relatively new. It seems as though TCOM is very similar to the MEM program at Duke, which you can learn about here <http://memp.pratt.duke.edu/>. Note that these types of programs are generally vocational. If you want to get a PhD afterwards, this might not help you much. Instead, a standard Master's in engineering would probably be better for industrial or academic purposes.
  3. That's what I thought a few months ago, but I read somewhere that there is a subject test in engineering, maybe I'm wrong though. Plus some of my applications say it helps to have the scores, but I haven't taken any. Thanks
  4. Hi, I just took the CAT form of the GRE last weekend and I'm applying mostly to electrical engineering programs. Do most applicants for graduate engineering programs have subject tests, like in the math, engineering or physics subjects, or do people usually just have the general test? Thanks P
